Thoughts from a hummusaholic
I absolutely love hummus (spent several years living in Israel) and eat it frequently. Back in my premotherhood days, I made it from scratch, including soaking the dried chickpeas. Not any more! I buy it in the huge tubs at Costco. 16 oz. containers are also at many of my local grocery stores--either near the fresh pasta or by the "gourmet" cheeses.
Hummus is healthy but can be high in fat. I have to be careful to limit my portions and I generally measure 1/4 a cup and that is all I allow myself to have.
Tahini can also be good as a salad dressing--blend some with water, lemon juice, garlic cloves and cumin.
