Default fresh corn - uncooked?

Every now and then, I run across a recipe that calls for freshly cut corn which is not cooked in the finished product. It might be a salad, fresh salsa, etc. Has anyone eaten raw corn?

They may be referring to corn which has been cooked on the cob and then "fresh cut" off it. I do that quite a lot because I find the kernals are just that much sweeter, i then use it in things like salads and salsas.

I can't say that I have ever eaten it raw though, so i dont know what it would taste like.
