peanut help!!!

Hi every one, first post here...
I bought this bag of roasted in-shell planters peanuts today. It says that the net wt is 4 oz. On the back, it says that there are four 1oz servings in the bag and that each serving is 160 calories. I assume that this would mean that 1 oz of IN SHELL peanuts contains 160 calories. However, when I go to fitday, it says that 1 0z of SHELLED peanuts has 160 calories. Also, the planters bag says that there are 4 19 in-shell peanut servings in my bag. But there are only 58 in-shell peanuts in the bag.
Help???
I just want to know how many in-shell peanuts equals 160 calories.
I know this seems really anal and I am sorry, but I am trying to incorporate new foods in my diet and these are new...and thus rather scary. I want to try new things but I have to do it in a way that I can handle.
Thanks!!!

14-15 shells containing peanuts would be 160 calories in THAT bag. I would imagine the count per bag would vary depending on the size of the nuts. I'd just go with 1/4 of any bag being 160 calories and try not to obsess and drive myself nuts!

Yeah, i agree, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The company probably packages nuts by weight, not count, and they are allowed to vary the weight within a certain percentage, so the calories of the nuts inside aren't going to be exactly the same in each serving. Plus, some nuts are bigger than others, lol.

Also, the calorie count of any food is really more of an average range. Calories in produce can vary depending on the soil they were grown in, how they were prepared, variations in water content, the age of the food at harvest time, etc.

Congrats on starting a new lifestlye and experimenting with new foods :) This is one of the things I've enjoyed the most about changing my eating habits - trying new things.
