looking for old recipe with jello, Strawberry Bavarian?

  • Hi all, many years ago I had a recipe that called for Strawberry flavored sugarfree jello, and no fat ice cream, or milk, and real strawberries, and it got whirred together in a blender to form a fluffy, jelled confection that I loved. I think it was called strawberry Bavarian.

I would be greatful if anyone had a recipe for something similar.

  • Is this what you're thinking of?

    Fresh Strawberry Bavarian Dessert

    1 envelope gelatin

    1/4 C. cold water

    1 C. mashed strawberries

    1 C. sugar

    2 C. heavy cream whipped

    1 t. vanilla

    1 C. sliced strawberries

Soften gelatin in cold water for 5 minutes. Place over hot water to dissolve. Heat mashed berries with the sugar until the sugar dissolves. Cool slightly and add gelatin, mix well. (It shouldn't be too hot when you add the gelatin or you will take the chance the gelatin will get stringy on you) Cool to room temperature.

Whip the cream until stiff. Add vanilla and gently fold into strawberry mixture. Fold in sliced strawberries. Spoon into a large serving bowl or individual glasses. Chill

    Serves 6.

I just went to Google and typed in the name and a whole bunch of recipes came up. Hope this helps.
  • Thanks, I had found this one too (and would love to make it), but was looking for one that used sugar free gelatin, etc. I tinkered around abit this morning and made an acceptable one with strawberry jello, frozen whole strawberries, nonfat milk, and lemon zest. Put in blender, then in glasses and cool. Very good. I can see a raspberry, and peach one in my future too.

Measure out all the water needed for gelatin. Heat about one third of that to boiling. Add gelatin and stir till dissolved. Cool till slightly thickening in frig. Add powdered non-fat milk (enough for all the water in whole recipe), 1 cup whole frozen strawberries for each 2 cups of water used, and grated lemon zest to remaining water in blender and mix. When blended, add thickening jello and whirrrrrrrr till frothy.

Pour into dessert glasses and refrigerate till set. Very good.
