Greek Yogurt...is it supposed to taste like sour cream?!
I bought a little container of plain greek yogurt to try and it tasted like sour cream...it is supposed to taste that way or was mine spoiled?! I threw it out just in case...it was a tiny container, but I was not about to eat the rest of it. LOL!
Yes, that's what it's supposed to taste like, it's good for cooking when it's plain, but if you add some fruit and or honey and maybe a little fiber one cereal or some flax seed it tastes really good.
I assume you got 0%? The higher the fat the less it tastes like sour cream. The full fat version by fage tastes like dessert. I go for the 2% with fruit. I can't handle the "sharp" taste in the 0%.
Greek yogurt is amazing! I use it as a substitute for sooooo many things! Sour cream and mayonnaise mainly. I use it to make tuna salad, veggie dips, on potatoes, to mix creamy sauces for fish, chicken, or pastas, and so many other things! It's a wonderful thing to incorporate in so many places - so nice and creamy and tangy! :-)
I put in a packet of Starbucks VIA instant coffee & a little stevia & in the 0% it tastes like coffee ice cream. You can also do it with cocoa powder for a chocolate fix that won't undo you or Matcha for a green tea ice cream craving.
Ifyou mix the 0% percent with a half serving of special K chocolate it's also an amazing dessert for chocolate & crunch.
i personally adore greek yogurt. when i first started getting in to it, i used it to justify any sneaking in of cheat foods. after a while, i found a happy medium. chobani's with pineapple is amazing, as is fage. i am, however, a bit wary of all the sugar in the pre-made mixins. so very much worth it though, i must say. (:
I got the idea from Keirsty Ally....combine one Fage 0% with a packet of Splenda and a lot of cinnamon. Yum!!! I haven't tried to put vanilla extract into it, but that sounds good too with some Splenda! I'll give that a try tomorrow!
Hey, if anyone wants to try a WAY less calorie version of ranch dressing. Mix in a couple spoonfuls of ranch seasoning with the 0% fage. It's delish!
I love the stuff. Ever since I discovered it I've been putting it on everything. It taste amazing on burritos or even just on some leafy greens. Another good way to eat it is to mix in some honey and blueberries. I smash the blueberries really good into it and stir it up.

That's genius!! Do you freeze it after you mix it all together? I NEED to try this!
