Balsamic Strawberries with Black Pepper

  • Seriously...where have these been all my life!! I made a test of these this morning as a topping for my brother's birthday cheesecake, and while they may sound bizarre, they are fabulous

    16 oz strawberries
    2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
    1/4 cup sugar (I'm subbing in Splenda for my own non-cheesecake consumption)
    1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper (honestly, I probably use more)

    Slice strawberries, mix together, allow to macerate in fridge for about an hour = deliciousness

    Entire recipe...about 360 calories. About 175 if you sub in splenda for the sugar. And that's for the entire pound of strawberries -

  • That sounds AMAZING! I've had strawberries and balsamic before, but never with the addition of sugar/splenda and black pepper... Great idea!
