This is a debate that will continue on for as long as i can imagine. I know there are definite negatives to using them, though i consider them more health then weight issues.
I abuse splenda, and i did so when i was actually thin so i don't worry about it adversely affecting weight, and its worth it to me to cut the calories (i drink a lot of hot tea, and i use a good deal of splenda in it, and i drink 2/3 diet sodas daily). One of these days i do want to give it a try to cut splenda out to see if it helps any of my GI issues, but that day isn't happening anytime soon.
