I just wanted to rub it in a little....

...because heaven knows we Michiganders have had a couple of rough...decades, you know? Everything from the nation's highest unemployment rate to the invasion of the Asian Carp (Hey! Illinois! Close your damn canals!), it seems like Michigan is the poor, fat, red-headed step-child who's behind the door whenever the Good Lord passes out the goodies.

Except.
It's blueberry season.

Yup. Beautiful blueberries, delicious blueberries---super food of all super foods---I'm paying less than $2.00 a pound at the farmer's market.

(neener neener).

When Ben Johnson opined: "Doubtless God could make a better fruit than the strawberry---but doubtless God never did", he didn't know about the Michigan blueberry, poor old bloke...

LOVE blueberries!! I bought some home canned blueberry jam over the weekend and hope to work it into plan with a biscuit soon.

I blogged about the stupid carp recently. I hope the link makes you laugh, and then want to pinch your congressman...

Hiya - I'm really enjoying the bumper crop of cherries Michigan is exporting to the East Coast. They're nothing short of fantastic.

Kindly convey my sentiments to the growers, LOL.

We don't get Michigan blueberries until New Jersey is tired of shipping for the year, then Michigan carries us for a spell, until we're only left with Newfoundland and the threat that winter is coming.
