Need To Pit Fresh Cherries?
I just had to share this great tip that I found on the net this weekend. I used it while making a sinfully rich fresh cherry cobbler/crisp. Neighbor had a sour cherry tree just bursting with ripe fruit and I used this tip to very quickly pit all of the cherries.
Use a straw and poke into the cherry. The pit stays in the straw and rarely squishes the cherry itself. Just drop the pit out and go onto the next cherry. So simple, but so useful! I used a McDonald's straw that I saved and washed.
