Healthy Pita bread
Do you chicks have any specific brand of Pita bread you love? I am looking for some low calorie, high protein, high fiber Pita bread.
I have found the healthy bread and tortilla that I can stick to, but am still looking for a nice Pita bread. Any suggestion? |
I like the Joseph's Whole Wheat/Flax pita. While its certainly much thinner and less "bready" than conventional pita, I like the hearty taste. It holds fillings pretty well, as long as you don't overstuff. And at 60 calories for a pita with a fair amount of fiber and protein, I can't argue!

Another vote for Joseph's - 60 calories and lots of fiber and protein! You have to be careful stuffing it because the walls are thin, but it is a GREAT find!

Joseph's 100% Whole Wheat Pita Bread
Another person who loves Joseph's 100% Whole Wheat Pita bread.
I usually cut one into 8 pieces, open the wedges, toast it, and use it as chips to dip into hummus. Yummy. |
Joseph's Flax, Oat Bran & Whole Wheat Flour Pita Bread
Joseph's, hands down, is the best I've found! I just had one for breakfast today. I sauteed some onions and peppers, scrambled an egg+eggwhite and parmesan cheese in with it, and stuffed the pita.
The bread is thin, but you get 8 grams of carb and 4 grams of fiber. |
