Where do I find coconut oil for cooking?

  • I'm trying a recipe this weekend that calls for virgin coconut oil, anybody know where I can find it?

I have Wegman's, A&P, ShopRite and Weis grocery stores around me....
  • I don't now about virgin coconut oil but I know regular coconut oil is at Wal-mart and they have organic brands at Hi-health stores. Maybe hi-health has virgin.
  • Health food stores, if you have one. That's the only place I see it around here. I ordered mine from iherb. It was so much cheaper than the store (Whole Foods). Nutiva brand is really good. It's virgin, unbleached, and organic. I only cook with coconut oil and butter.
  • I looked all over for it myself, and the only luck I had was at GNC. Hope that helps.
  • They sell it in our regular grocery stores, it's typically in the organics dry goods section. The other place I've seen it is near the balsamic vinegar.
  • One of the bigger Wegman's stores would definitely have it, not sure about a smaller one. Check in the Nature's Marketplace section. I did a search on Wegmans.com and they showed 2 brands that they carry - Nutiva and Spectrum.
  • I have the Spectrum organic virgin oil and I got it at a small natural marketplace. I love it!
It's funny to see though, on colder days it's solid, almost like the consistency of crisco and on warmer days like today, it's liquid in a jar!
Makes cooking taste great and makes a great hair gel/spray alternative!
