Smile Hate to eat in the morning, so found a solution!

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share with you a solution I found.

I have a very hard time eating anything in the morning, but know I really have to eat at least SOMETHING within the first hour of waking up. I wake up and have a homemade latte (I have a Starbucks espresso maker) and then sometimes NOTHING to eat for 2-3 hours! Very bad.

So my naturopath suggested I mix some protein powder into my latte. I bought some vanilla (although she suggested chocolate for a more mocha taste) and blended it into my hot steamed rice milk with my new Magic Bullet blender. wow! I'm so impressed. It tasted totally fine and solved my problem.

yay!

What type of protein powder do you use? I thought using chocolate protein powder in hot liquid instead of cold would be super - like hot cocoa - but when I tried it, the hot water made it get all clumpy and gross.

I put protein powder in my hot beverage also (tried milk, coffee, premixed cocoa), Su-Bee and it got clumpy and icky, too. Until I used my hand blender, then it got all frothy and yummy. It just didn't blend well using it by hand. I did find that the chocolate flavored protein powder from Trader Joe's is too bitter to flavor the milk by itself, but it along with 1 tbsp lite Hershey's Syrup in warm milk blended with hand blender was pretty darn good.

I use Metagenics UltraMeal (vanilla) http://www.metagenics.com/products/detail.asp?pid=20

yes, you have to blend it up using a blender. then, like the poster says above me, it gets very frothy and nice. Magic Bullet baby!

I had a Magic Bullet and I burned the motor up making frozen fruit smoothies every morning. I miss it a lot...

I know, it's way too sweet for me too. unfortunately I don't think they just have plain flavor protein powder, but I would like to try that next.

They do make unflavored protein powder... I've never had it, so don't know if any of these are good or not...

ETA: Searched some more. Found an Optimum Nutrition one - I've liked all of their products that I've used.

In the morning I hate to eat as well and find some tea (such as chai) with soy milk is a good substitute.
