Drink enough water to keep you from feeling thirsty. Drink extra when you exercise. Don't bother forcing yourself to drink extra water your body isn't telling you that you need because "everyone" says you should.
I know a girl who literally freaks out over her water intake.
"OMG! It's almost 7:00 at night (she doesn't drink water past 7 because she says she got tired of getting up to go to the bathroom all night long) and I haven't drank all of my water yet!!!"
She then races to literally waterlog herself chugging the stuff to get in her "quota".
