Default Growing Sprouts at Home

A week ago I showed my TOPS group how to grow sprouts at home, and I made sprouting kits for everyone to take home, and weh had a little tasting of radish sprouts, broccoli sprouts, and a salad blend I got at a local organic grocery (a blend of alfalfa, clover, radish, fenugreek, and lentil).

In a group of 15, I was shocked that only one other lady had ever grown sprouts themselves. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and were astonished that it was so easy.

In doing a little research for the group, I found a couple of sprouting sites that were very informative and also sold seeds, sprouters, and related stuff. One was sproutpeople, and the other sprouthouse.

I've never bought seeds online, or anywhere other than from a health food store. Well in our area there are only three health food stores. One is more of a native american medicinals shop. One is the organic grocery I mentioned above, and while the sprouting salad mix they sell is very good, it's the only sprouts they sell. The largest store (which seems to be heading towards closing, but they deny it), but they've been drastically cutting their stock and are only going to be selling radish, broccoli, and clover.

I've only sprouted the seeds I've mentioned earlier in this post (oh, and mung beans), but am interested in trying other varieties that I saw on the online sites I mentioned. I was wondering if anyone had experiences to share with buying seeds online (or elsewhere), what they've grown, and any hints or tips.

For example, I really want to try growing onion and garlic sprouts, anyone have any tips or suggestions?

I haven't done onion or garlic, but I have bought-traded seeds online and had a good experience. I used to run a food co-op where I bought most of my seeds, so if you can find those types of stores-sites, they are a good source of seeds as well. Also, look for organic and herb shops - they often have seeds for sale that are good for sprouting. The key is to get untreated seed. Have you ever done Essene bread? It is a wonderful way to use sprouts, but it takes some getting used to.

I have heard of it, along with Ezekiel bread, but haven't tried either. I love simmered wheat berries or bulgar as sidedishes, so I'd probably like it
