Do you have one? boobalah has been poopy about getting one. However, since I have started my own eating regimen, I think I would like one. We have grill pans that we use on the stove. The grill I'm looking at has a locking lid so it can act as a broiler, too. Besides, it's small enough that I can take it to work and broil/grill a chicken breast or chicken/broccoli sausage there.
Do you love it? Do you hate it? How hard is cleanup? Would you buy it again?
We have one that is about 5 years old...it does a great job of cooking...however, we hardly ever use it. Angie cooks on the BBQ all the time. The grill we have is hard to clean...not hard really, but time consuming. I hear they have "sponges" that make clean-up easier now though. I say if it isn't easy to BBQ where you live, get one.
We love our foreman grill...use it at least once a week...my friend uses hers more than that... clean up for me hasn't been bad.... after I unplug it, I wet a couple paper towels with some water, fold em in half, put them on the grill and close the lid... while I eat, it sort of steams it, then wipe clean-start with those paper towels, then use another one or so...and then it's done...
the best thing EVERY -- it is so quick and easy.My mother usu. marinates meat on the weekend and then throughout the weekday she just pops it into the grill.
I would get it -- clean up is a snap. Just make sure to clean up when it is still hot - a moist towel/papertowel works just fine.
I love my george foreman. I have had it for 4+ years and I use it a lot. I also use the paper towel trick to clean it. I would buy one again if this one wears out. Besides chicken, I love to grill veggies on mine with some lemon pepper seasoning.
I love my Foreman, but I hate cleaning it even though I have the one where you can remove the grill plates. I cook chicken breasts on it, and never in my life have I had juicier chicken. All I do is put kosher salt and grind pepper on both sides and cook for about 7-8 minutes. It comes out perfect every time.
Ugh. I have one that I wound up getting in a christmas gift exchange that went horribly wrong. I never, ever use it. It's way more of a hassle to pull it out of the cupboard and then clean it afterwards than it is to use a grill pan on the stove or to use the actual grill outside. I really don't see the point of it. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't know why I'm letting the thing take up cupboard space. I'm going to take it to Goodwill.
One thing I just remembered about ours is that it takes up a lot of counter space, that is why it is on a shelf in our garage. We have a small kitchen. It was the biggest one they had at the time for our family of 6, but I think they are even bigger now, which you don't need MARE.
We are on our 3rd one. Our first got too small after having kids so we bought a bigger one. Then we ended up getting one for a christmas present that was slightly better than the one we had so we chose to keep it. We absolutely love ours and use it probably 5 nights of the week. Clean up can be as easy as you want it to be.
I highly recommend getting one and using it. Meat has never been so easy to cook nor tasted so good in our family.
I have "dinner dates with George" all the time! I have a small one which works very well for me, cooking for one. I grill veggies, fish, steak, chicken, etc. and I marinade stuff for it beforehand sometimes, too.
I also do the paper-towel trick, and cleanup is super easy that way.
Mine isn't a George Foreman brand, but it's the same type of thing (Hamilton Beach brand, I think). I'm super lazy about cleaning, so the one I have has removable grill plates that I just put in the dishwasher when I'm done cooking--nothing easier to clean than that!
I like cooking on it rather than in a pan on the stove because the ridges allow the fat to drain off rather than letting my food sit and cook in its own fat in a pan (this is especially true of my turkey burgers).
I'm highly dependent on mine. The paper towel thing is a snap for clean-up each time.
What I like is the fact that the ridges drains off most of the excess fat. Also, I find when I use the Foreman I get a more even grill and it's much easier to time how long to cook than it is with the gas grill. Plug in, wait 2 minutes and it's ready to go!
Love it, use it all the time. I do the wet paper towel trick, too. I've been through 2 of them, and got my mom hooked. I definitely recommend the one you can take the plates out of to clean. It's great for grilling veggies, too.
