I read somewhere that some people like their oatmeal more cakey than runny. Well I kinda bumped into this cakey oatmeal thing by accident today...
I'd almost run out of oats, so I think I had about 1/3C left in the bag. I put the same amount of water in, then I usually add a whole egg, so I whisked it up with the egg and nuked for 1min. It turned quite solid and cakey... I had to put a smidge of soya milk in to soften it up a bit, but I added some splenda and dried cranberries and it was taste-Y! So for cakey-oatmeal peeps, try this! It tastes even more sponge-cake like with the egg
