I didn't lose anymore than I'd normally lose....2-3lbs a week. I got much stronger and far more stamina though. I couldn't do butt kicks, lunges, or bicycle crunches when I started and I fatigued quickly. By the end, things were much easier. You really notice throughout how you are changing in your strength and endurance.
This video was intended for toning up and losing those last stubborn pounds. A companion to the book Making the Cut.

30 day shred gave me some toning, and I felt a lot stronger, but as far as weight loss is concerned it doesn't matter how much you exercise if you're eating too many calories. I alternated the 30 day shred with her longer 40 minute videos Banish Fat Boost Metabolism which is mostly cardio, and No More Trouble Zones which focuses on toning. I did these videos consistently, 6 days a week for four months and I only lost about five lbs because I didn't change any of my eating habits. I felt healthier and a little more in shape but I didn't lose weight like I wanted.
My point is... don't expect dramatic weight loss from any exercise regime on its own. I like how Tosca Reno does the math... weight loss is 10%genetics, 10%exercise, and 80% what you put in your mouth

I did the dvd to get some toning as I was going to the Caribbean for a vacation and did see change in my shoulders. I wasn't dieting or watching what I was eating but I definitely noticed a change in my strength and endurance.
I'm starting again tomorrow but this time I will be watching what I'm eating and drinking as I've just joined a v-day challenge, I'm turning 40 in 5 weeks and I'm going on another Caribbean vacation in March to celebrate my b-day.
Here's to sweat and pain...and muscle!

I tried it for the first time yesterday, the level 1 workout. I liked it because it's compact and intense. I've never really done circuit training before, but I'm interested to see how my body does with it. My previous workout regimens have been either cardio or weight training focused and time consuming (half-marathon training, body pump classes, etc.). Right now I'm looking for something convenient and quick that I can do every day to get the ball rolling again since I've been very lazy for a long time, I think this just might do the trick!

I'm on day 2 of level 1 and I remember now how much I enjoyed it...just got to put it on the top of my agenda each day. I am feeling sore but happy
It's easier for me to do after work and my 30th day will be Feb. 1st - lets see if we can keep each other motivated?

Sounds good to me! It might be my imagination, but I think day 2 may have been a tiny bit easier than day 1.

I can't decide whether I want to do the 30DS or not - I've had the video for a while, but have never tried it. I want to do the most efficient workout possible, and I get discouraged when I read that people don't lose a significant amount of weight on it.
But, everyone's different, so what the heck, I'll try it. I'll give it a full week to see if it's more effective than what I'm doing now. And even if it doesn't make me lose more than normal, it will definitely not hurt!!

I did it last around april last year for a week straight and I lost 10 pounds. I got happy that I lost 10 pounds in a week so I stopped ( I'm shamefully notorious for stopping once I see progress). I just started back up today and I felt like I was gonna puke . I'm planning to stick with it this time though.

I lost 7lbs after Day 30 (took 4 days off between levels 2 and 3 but other than that, I did it every night). I was eating right the whole time.
I liked it and will consider doing it again!

I'm doing the 30 DS along with, Jillian's Last chance workout and six week six pack abs. It kills me when I'm doing it, but you're done really quickly. I rotate through the three, it is getting a bit easier (ok, a tiny bit easier) but I've only done it, and the others, for two weeks. I think I like the last chance workout the best. I did that for almost 2 months straight, of course now I can ACTUALLY do that one pretty well now.
I agree with the others, if you don't change how you're eating, it's only going to change the scale so much. I just try to make better choices, less sweets, more fruits & veggies, whole grains . . . and I don't beat myself up if I eat a cookie, I just don't eat the whole bag
Try it, it will be hard at first, NO DOUBT about that, but just stick with it and see what happens

I could see how the all the jumping jacks/butt kickers/jump rope could be tough on the knees. Maybe just substitute some lower impact cardio moves? This youtube video has some examples. If you're doing lunges and squats in proper form (never bend your knees past your toes!) I think they shouldn't be too hard on the knees.

I have very loose joints in general - but the knees are the worst. One of the best things about 30DS for me was that I didn't need to modify it too much just for my joints (for my heart rate, well that's another story ) I just had to make sure that i was really doing the exercises right, like the squats, and not getting up off the floor or out of exercises too quickly. I also did my own stretches at the end, as I found hers to be too short and harsh for my particular needs.
No matter how you modify it, you are still DOING it! And that feels great, too.
Good luck!
