  • Hello!
I'm not sure if this is the place to ask, but I'm looking for a good pilates video. I've never tried pilates, so something for beginners may be best.
    Any suggestions would be great!
    Thanks
  • I have the Windsor Pilates set and I love it. Perfect for any fitness level.
  • Check your local libraries to see if they have any. It's great to try them out before you buy!

I have done Windsor pilates too!
  • Pilates for Dummies is a great starter dvd.
  • I completely agree with Fiberlover-- Pilates for Dummies is a fantastic way to start! There is a "beginner" level and an advanced level-- the only thing that was kind of woinky about going to the Advanced stuff was that she threw in some new movements without warning you about them in the "Beginner" level-- but if you watch the DVD before you do it (like they say you're supposed to, even though I'm guilty of not!), then it's not that bad It's surprising how much you're able to do!!! (and how hard the easy stuff looks!)

    Have fun!
  • I second Winsor pilates.
  • I like 10 minute solutions "Slim & Sculpt Pilates". It uses a stretchie band which I really like. I had never done pilates when I started using it at about 190 lbs.
  • thanks so much everyone! good idea about the library, bethbeth. i never thought of that!
did any of you enjoy doing it? see results? i can't wait to try it!
  • I always liked Denise Austin's Pilates Matwork dvd...the first workout on it the most. It requires no band, or any other Pilates prop. It has the basics-roll ups, the hundred, leg circles, scissors, and many of the basic matwork Pilates moves.
  • You will definitely feel the results after the first session. Your abs will be sore. Don't worry if you can't do the full positions or reps at first, you will build strength very quickly.

If you have netflix - they also have tons of exercise videos, including pilates that you can try out!
  • Well, these aren't pure pilates workouts, but they incorporate pilates into a lot of the moves---anything by Ellen Barrett. I think she's a great instructor.
  • Winsor pilates is GREAT and you can use them for FREE by veohTV. I have some from her and found some there that I was going to buy now I do not have to
  • I absolutley love Windosr pilates. Mari is my favorite to go along with. Her she shows modified moves if you are a beginner and how to make the moves harder if you are advanced. Great investment IMO
  • I use a Crunch Pilates DVD I got from a friend and I really love it. There's a 10 minute full body workout and then special segments for the belly, buns, and thighs. I love it
  • I'm with anglzgirl; Crunch pilates is very good. (ellen barret is awesome at explaining).
