Default Pilates and flexibility issues.

I've been looking at pilates videos and they look interesting. But I'm not sure I can do the moves because I had a thorasic spine fusion (upper part of the spine) and have metal rods in my back. Do pilates require a lot of flexibility in the upper back? It's probably a stupid question but thought I'd give it a try.
