In my class they play a big variety of songs. I’m not sure how many they made up on their own and how many they learned in training. We actually only do the songs on your DVD occasionally, I believe. We have songs to Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy, Milkshake, London Bridge (Fergie), some 50’s or 60’s music, some other Latin sounding songs….a HUGE variety! Also, the instructors are usually licensed instructors which means they have gone to Zumba training so they would use the same steps that are used on your DVD.

My instructor makes up names to the steps and calls several steps the same name. There are 2 steps she calls calypso, and I have trouble with one of those. I also struggle with the Samba. I walk in place or tap my toe out to the front. I don’t know if you are doing this on carpet or a hard surface, but on the advice of my instructor, I recently purchased new shoes. My instructor calls them Zumba shoes but they are also called aerobic or dance shoes, I think . Whatever they are called they have a pivot point (circle area of tread) on the ball of the foot and the tread on the rest of the shoe isn’t as heavy as say a running shoe would be. It has helped me move better on the hard wood floor that we use. Just something to think about.

I have been doing this for almost a year and every once in a while something clicks and I am able to do a step that I could never do correctly before. Just hang in there and enjoy!!

The salsa steps takes some getting used to! I cannot turn and twist around that fast! Lol. What else is hard... The samba and calypso steps are hard for me! Do you do a lot of those steps in the class? I will let you know if I decide to go to a class!
Hey, bxthin do you mind if I ask what part of CT you are in?

Default Zumba dvds

Hi I was just wondering is there only 1 kind of zumba dvd... is it the set of 4 dvds? I only ask because I would like to purchase them but when searching I keep finding what appear to be the same set of 4 dvds but the price varies, sometimes by as much as half and sometimes the pictures look different but all referred to 4 dvds so wasnt sure. Are there older versions and newer ones like with different routines or all they all the same? I have taken a class a few times at my local Y and LOVE it, I am not sure if it would be the same routine/music because they are such popular songs (like today's top songs) and it seems zumba has been around awhile so maybe its different but I am interested in having them at home too for when I cant go but am not sure if there are different choices to choose from. Thanks
