Default Too thin for whooshes?

Do you guys every have whooshes (3+ pounds vanish all of a sudden?)

I'm not exactly a featherweight, but I'm just a few pounds over my "healthy" weight per the BMI index. And I never have whooshes anymore - every 1/2 lb is a hard-won battle. Does that not happen to people near or at a "healthy" weight? Or am I just getting old?

I still get them but it is water. So, no. Not real whooshes like I used to where the weight would stay off. Those were happy days.

Yep, we're too small for any serious "whooses" now. I agree half a lb. per week is a good week for me. The last 15 to 20 lbs. are the hardest won battle, but, dare I say, the most satisfactory. Keep up the good work.

PS I find throwing a maintenance week in every once in a while seems to fire things up for me just a little bit.

Best of Luck,
D

I'm going it at it hard right now because I'm going on a cruise in a month. But I most definitely have a few maintenance weeks coming.

Cool

It's tooth-and-nail for me. Like Ian said, if I "lose" three pounds, it's not fat, it's food/water. I keep having to cut down the total weekly calories - only within safe levels, of course - to get that approx. half-pound loss. But I'm grateful for it, that's for sure!

Here's to having fun on your cruise! :bc:

Depends, if you are starting at 155, then yes - I think you could still have some whooshes until maybe 135. I started at 135, and looking back at my weight logs (lol) - I whooshed from 135 to 132 to 130 to 128 within two weeks. My whooshes stopped after I hit 120.

My only whooshes the last few months have been water and hormone fluctuations. I find that I usually see my highest weight for the month on Mondays (because I eat out more on weekends) and during Shark Week. Then I see my lowest weight for the month right after my period ends. The difference between the highest and lowest is usually 3-4 lbs, so I'll go from 126.5 to 123 in just a couple days, but it's not really a "real loss" and then usually evens out around the 124-125 range.

Whoosh, lol, what is that? As I am both old (70's) and getting close to goal. I have to work hard to get .2 lbs off in a week. It helps me to constantly be changing my diet all the time. I spend most of my life surfing things about losing weight. Just trying to squeak out an ounce or two more.

It's time to think about exercise, and what you want to look like once you get to the magic number of pounds.

I definitely still have "whooshes" where my weight fluctuates as much as 3-4 lbs day to day. But not where I'm actually losing that much in fat. I've heard you need to create a 3500 calorie deficit to lose a pound of fat. At my weight, I'm burning about 1800 daily. So even if I ate nothing, the most I'd be able to lose is 1/2 lb a day.

Wink

I'm so far past the "whooshes" that I bought a scale yesterday with one-tenth of a pound increments.

I had a whoosh from 145 to 142 although I wasn't super consistent with daily weighing so I'm not 100% sure it happened. But it seemed like it was a whoosh.
