I need help with something Feathers! I have some shorts that are mid-thigh length and others that hit just above my knee. My question is this: should a middle-aged mom like me wear the shorts that go to mid-thigh even if I can because I've lost weight? Am I too old? I'd appreciate a fresh perspective. Thanks in advance.

My mother-in-law is 58 and is rocking mid-thighs or even shorter shorts. She's also thin for her age and look in shape! It doesnt look cocky or vulgar, it's just awesome how a woman this age can look so good in shorts. I'm sure she makes a lot of women jealous. Do it !

If you've got it, flaunt it.

As long as they aren't booty shorts, it's a GO. Rock those legs!

I am 22, a mom, and have two pairs of great fitting mid thigh shorts, I think they are perfect for mommies of all ages. They are so appropriate because you can still rock shorts without your butt hanging out. granted though, I still like my shorter shorts & wear those on hotter days, especially if we are going to the beach.

This comment made me laugh sooo hard. I don't know if I totally agree with it though - maybe if I were a little younger but nevertheless I'll take the compliment...it made my day, week and year.

OMG! Booty shorts?!? I don't think I ever owned a pair of those not even when I was much younger. That would be a scary sight to see a middle-aged momma like me sporting some barely-there shorts, lol.
But all kidding aside, I just don't want to look ridiculous for lack of a better word. I don't wish to look or dress like I'm in my teens or 20s because I'd end up looking silly IMO. I want to look 'fashion-forward' but still age-appropriate...if that makes any sense.
It helps to get other people's perspective on this especially from the younger set.

I am a few months away from 47. I wear mini skirts everywhere and I love them. If you have the confidence to wear them....go for it!!! You will have your "haters" no matter what you do, but you will also have as many people who wish they could dress like you and don't have the confidence to do so. Be yourself

I'm 37 and mom of two, so not exactly a spring chicken. My legs are one of my better features, so I often wear mini skirts and shorter shorts. Also, I'm petite with short legs, so longer shorts (knee length) just truncate me and make me look stubby.
Almost every pair of shorts I own are mid thigh or shorter, and I don't have any that hit my knee at all.
I think if you have the body for it, you don't need to worry about age appropriateness when it comes to length of shorts/skirts, especially if those garments are tailored correctly (i.e. not lycra spandex). To me, age appropriate dressing has more to do with avoiding things like skin tight sweat pants with "Booty" written across the butt or obvious thong appearances in low slung jeans.
On the other hand, I definitely dress younger than my age sometimes, but I try to always do it in a tasteful way.

Geesh, mini-skirts...really? You all have got me thinking now, lol. Haven't worn those in at least 6 or 7 years. I don't think I could do it though but I do wear cute little sundresses - does that count?
But back to the shorts. My DH told I looked good in them when I tried a pair of them on the other day and paired it with a fitted tee shirt and wedge heels. But sometimes I need a women's opinion, you know?
I never used to wear shorter shorts when my legs were a little heavier and flabby so this is a whole new area for me. I love that everyone is so positive too.
