Default Running Blisters

Ive been getting really bad blisters from running. Its very annoying becuase then I have to take a few days off for them to heal because it hurts too bad to run with them! Does anyone know how to prevent these? I have pretty good running shoes. They are $100 Nikes..

This is a huge problem for me and I'm always look for suggestions. I am currently using BandAid Blister Block. It looks like a mini deodorant stick that you rub all over your feet before putting your socks and shoes on. It prevents the rubbing that leads to blisters. It has been incredibly effective for me. I'm also loving BandAid Healing Cushions, which are for treating blisters after they form. They really do seem to speed up healing and provide a lot of comfort.

I tend to get blisters on the backs of my heels - I sometimes put some athletic tape on them to help absorb the rubbing from my sneakers. It helps, also, once a blister has popped. I sometimes do a bandaid for cushioning and then the athletic tape.

I will have to stop by the store and get the bandaid block. Sounds like something I could really use! Thanks for the tips

I use a product called "Blist-O-Ban", though I order them from Amazon.com not this site I linked to. I sometimes get one on the side of the ball of my right foot. Don't get them anywhere else, though.

Did you get your stride tested before you bought your shoes? It could be that they are designed for a different footfall than what you have and that they are rubbing the wrong places?

Also, what kind of socks do you wear? I did get serious blisters when I wore looser cotton socks. I bought special running socks that were for my shoe size, got them from Road Runner Sports.com. They are moisture wicking, mild compression socks I think. I forget the fabric. They are great - they don't slide, don't hold moisture, don't bunch up, support my feet. Love them.

I get blisters on the side of my big toe sometimes, and it really sucks! But since I've been running for so long, they've changed to callouses. I bought these corn cushions. I know they're not meant for blisters, but they cushion your feet so you can still run and be pain free. They're just this band that wraps around your big toe and the cushion goes where your blister is.

I am getting the blisters mainly on my right foot right above where the foot curves below the big toe (more downwards though towards the curve of the foot). I think maybe it could be my socks? I dont know!! ahh! SO many options!

I second the use of good running socks. I used to run in cotton socks -- never again!

Get wicking socks...you do NOT want cotton, cotton traps moisture = BAD for feet!!!

I did the Avon walk 2 years in a row and have ALWAYS had horrible blisters. I've lost toenails because of it, (they do grow back!) My cowalker used duct tape on her foot to reduce friction. I put moleskin, on my "hot spots" before I walk/run, I also change socks frequently. I have spent so much time preventing blisters....nothing really works, it's just my feet. I also noticed that I got them alot more with Nike's, I tried New Balance shoes and haven't gotten as many blisters. Mainly it just becomes a trial and error process for what works for you.

Always make sure you feet stay dry. Use blist-o-ban, if you go to a running / fitness store they can recommend socks for you.
