I'm definitely not an expert but 1200 does seem really low. That's what they put the morbidly obese on. Just keep pluging and trying.
Actually, that's not true--they don't put the morbidly obese on 1200 calorie a day diets. The more you weigh, the more you need to eat to maintain that weight and the more you can eat and still lose weight. So the morbidly obese are often on much higher calorie diets than you would expect--sometimes as much 2,000 to 2,500 calories a day for women (more for men). 1200 calories a day would be dangerously low for someone who is morbidly obese.

That's also why, when you had much more weight to lose, you were eating more than I can eat now to lose weight (not that you were morbidly obese, of course you weren't anywhere near that , but you weighed more and maintaining that weight required more calories, so you could cut fewer calories to lose weight). When I was at a higher weight, I could lose weight on more calories per day as well. But as you lose weight, your body requires fewer calories and you have to continue to drop your calories if you want to continue to lose. You are also 3 inches taller than me, which makes a big difference in how many calories your body needs to maintain its weight. 1200 calories is not low for someone who weighs 117 (as of this morning, yay, 1 lb down, finally) and is only 5'4".

It's also clear that the problem isn't that I'm not eating enough. I have tried a number of different calories levels (anywhere from 1300 per day to 1600 per day) and I definitely do not lose weight when I eat more.

Today I did a relatively easy step 30-minute workout because I am getting over a nasty cold. Tomorrow is a weight training day. I should be able to get through it OK, maybe with a bit lighter weights. I only ate what I planned to eat for the day.

I gained 2 pounds over the holidays, lost the 2 pounds and regained them when I was visiting family for 10 days. I am going to be home for 10 weeks now. My goal is to get down to 130 pounds during this period.

I'm joining.. this is inspiring to see everyone keeping up their workouts and losing pounds!

Today I dont feel like going to the gym and it doesnt work with my work/personal schedule so I've made my own plan which puts together the stairs in my apartment, my exercise ball and my weights. Lucky my house is equipped enough so that on freezing days i can still get a workout in. I have no excuse!

BluetoBlue: I agree we could eat more when we were heavier and as we loose we need to lower the calorie intake. When I said the morbidly obese get 1200 calories a day that's from a show where they actually live in a Clinic for the morbidly obese to help them loose their weight. I agree that's not much for them but they say it several times in each show. Everybody has different limits and you will find yours. Hope I didn't come across confrontational because I enjoy hearing from everybody.

So far today I've done 20 min on the eliptcal and 40 min w/ trainer working arms and legs. Going back to gym to do 20 on stairmaster tonight!

Everybody keep up the great work!!

Today was a weight routine. Also followed my eating plan. The scales showed a 1.5 pound weight loss this morning. Sunday is my "official" weight day, so I will know then if this is water weight.

I weighed in at 139 this morning - that's down 3 lbs from last week and 10 total. I was carrying a lot of water weight due to all the cysts I had though. Still.. it's soo nice to have all that bloatedness gone

I've been on plan for 2 weeks straight. I will be off plan tonight - it's date night for my husband and I - I think we're doing dinner and a movie. My daughter is at Universal studios & Islands of adventure this weekend with a friend.

Already got in 50 minutes walking my dogs this morning.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I was only down .5 yesterday, but I'll take it. Any time the scale is moving down instead of up, I am happy!

Tam -- Awesome job!!!! 139 is where I'd LOVE to be ... I will be soon, I hope! Keep up the excellent work, but do have fun on your night out (or was it last night).

Ilene -- I love hearing about your diehard tundra workouts! Truly unbelievable. How do you keep your skin from getting all chapped? And how do you warm up, so your lungs don't feel like they are cracking from all that frozen air?

I did 45 minutes at gym yesterday with my girlfriend. Just brisk walking, but that's still ok since I'm trying to get back in shape.

By the way, not that anyone noticed, but there is a discrepancy in how much I lost and what my sig says. It appears that I lost 2 lbs. this week, but it was only .5. I had been weighing on 2 scales, and now I am going with what one scale says (the doc's scale in the nurse's office at school is now going to be my official weekly weight.). It's kinda nice because my home scale weighs me a little bit heavier, then I go into school and get a nice surprise that I'm actually about a lb less. From now on, I'll only be posting the one weekly weight. Again, not that anyone noticed or cares, but it was bugging me!

Tundra workout?? Cute ... I don't know how come my skin or even my lips don't get chapped ... All I use is Roc anti-wrinkle eye and skin cream and I always keep something on my lips... My lungs, well I don't feel the cold at all I sometimes cover my mouth and nose but then my glasses fog up... so I don't cover up most of the time...

Yesterday DH and I went for an hour walk after my run....

Today, 1 hour walk with DH...
