Default Gluten = Bad ?

So my wife and I are new to this and had a few questions...

1. I've seen that Brown rice pasta is ok? Does this transfer to other things as well? For instance, I've seen brown rice syrup as a sweetener, is that ok? What about brown rice flour?

2. What am I looking for when buying vegetarian meat? Is wheat gluten ok? Or is that a no-no?

Technically you are not supposed to have pasta until Phase III----You can look through the Phase I FAQ's but I've also directly quoted it for you below

So along with that I would say "no" to the brown rice syrup or flour. I am not an expert but I believe you should try and stay away from any flours and sweetners during Phase I. You are allowed up to 2TBL I believe of artificial sweetners but only if you really need them.
