Mar, you're doing awesome! Keep up the great work! It's so worth it when your body responds with that "YES! Please keep this up!" attitude! I feel SO much better now than I did two weeks ago. Seriously!

Goal, you should try logging your calories. I've been getting about 1300-1400 a day following the plan exactly. I use a little olive oil to sautee my veggies and do get in my two 100-calorie snacks a day (usually use one for a dessert type thing). Heap on the vegetables!

Mary, I do have the book. I haven't really checked out the recipes yet so I will get right on that! Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm now down two weeks and I lost an additional three pounds this second week, which brought my total loss to eight pounds over the two weeks! Unbelievable. I really wasn't expecting this. I'm going to move into the maintenance phase for now because we're going back home for a month and a half and I won't be able to stay strictly on plan. I need to be able to plan for those dinners at my grandmother's house and still stay "good" the rest of the time and I think the maintenance phase will give me more flexibility there. I'll keep checking in, though!

Keep up the great work, ladies!

Kara

Kara, you are having such great success. I hope you are able to keep so as positive while you are away for 1.5 months! I'm supposed to take a road trip next Friday from VA to FL to run my first half marathon. I'm trying to convince myself that I can still stay on program the day I drive, and the day before the race, and then the drive home.. The day of the race I can eat as I please. But today I need some strong willpower light sent my way. I'm not sure how I can have such a low day after having such a high day yesterday. I'm so sleepy today, and devoid of energy. This is one of the days where I would normally hit the coffee shop and load up on high sugar everything, just to feel better. But today I'm going to resist! I must break this cycle sometime. Hope everyone is doing well today!

Where oh where are all my fat smashers???!!! Yesterday (day 4) was my toughest day yet. I spent most of the day hungry and cold. At the end of the day, two squabbling kids and a roaring stomach sent me on an eating binge. But by dinner time I had gotten myself back on program, and threw in a 30 minute walk on the treadmill (even though it was a rest day). This morning I'm more in control. Was able to do a short run this morning without my knee giving me any problems. We'll see how it holds up on Thursday with 6 miles, followed by 2 on Friday. Keep your fingers crossed! Friday is my weigh in day....I can hardly wait to see how things turn out! Stay strong, girls!

Red face Good morning

Well I only lost 3 pounds last week and I am a little disappointed. I am having problems eating all the food though so maybe that is the issue. I am a contractor on base so I get to do PT 3 days a week and I have my eliptical at home so I am doing all my cardio. My body seems to hold on to every pound.

Kara - We really like it here. The beaches look almost like snow. Gaven the locals are a little redneck but it was better than being in Oklahoma and freezing to death!! LOL!! This area has a lot of triathletes but I could not keep up with them.

Todays food:

1 cup Kashi crunch 190 calories 3-fat
1/2 cup fat free milk 43 caloris 0-fat

Quaker Chewy chocolate chip granola bar 90 calories 2-fat
Caffeine free diet coke 0/0

Daltonsbabe, I wouldn't beat yourself up about three pounds. Three pounds is great, and it's on the way to your goal! I think the most they projected in the book was 4 pounds. Plus, you are on the lighter end of the scale. Maybe you aren't eating enough, your calories for today looked light. As Kara mentioned, load up on those veggies. They are so good for you. I love that I'm being 'forced' to eat so many, because when I'm not forced, I tend to be too lazy to fix them. Keep strong!

Thisrlipo, cake and birthdays are tough! I can't imagine much that I love to eat more that cake! But the party is over, and you are refocused. That's the important thing. Not giving up completely. You may have taken a detour, but you are back on the main road now! You can still totally make your V-day goal.
Does anyone else find it odd that when the planned meal is a 200 calorie fruit smoothie, they don't include the caloric content of the recipes in the back of the book. The idea of the book is so I don't have to think! I'd almost rather not make the meal! I'm out of protein powder. I guess I'll just have to swap the meals around and do the smoothie after I pick up my son from school and get some powder. Grrrrrr!

Marathon girl, we really are out here, but having a hard time doing it all...like getting online and getting some support, you sound as if you survived the glitch, good for you. I am beginning to accept my "less than perfect" journey with EFS. Its a learning curve, for sure. Mostly about myself. Overall, I am doing good. Today was a good day, and I actually had a really yummy smoothie for lunch. We are home from school with a snow day in Wisconsin, so did some cooking to keep myself out of trouble, got in an hour of exercise ont he elliptical/recumbent bike. Nice shower. Now for a good read. Hope you are ALL having a great day. Keep up the good changes.

Thanks, maryb! It has been a challenging week. And already I see where I'm taking liberties here and there. I just seem to be sooooo hungry! I'm also horrible about weighing every day. I know I'm not supposed to, but I have to have some sort of vice. Eating, weighing, shopping! All detrimental to my psychological well being! Tomorrow is my weigh in day. And then I have a whole week before my first race. I feel I could easily drop 4 pounds if I would just stick strictly to the diet. Hard, hard, hard! Stay tough, girls!

Stuck to plan yesterday and dropped 1.5 lbs!!! I know it's water but thank God!!! so I and a pound and a half from goal. But of course I have a head cold. I wish I had a snow day. we don't see much snow in North Texas, I know it's hard not to nibble here and there, just keep telling yourself, "will this moment help me reach my goal?" Sounds like exercise is going well for all of us, it's keeping our hands out of the "cookie" jar. We can do it...lets stand strong together!

i can relate to the remark about being hungry...i have had my 4 meals by 6:00P.M....hopefully, I still have the 2 snacks to see me through till bedtime. At this juncture, I really want more than an apple, or some saltines with PB!!!! I know what you mean....I find it very difficult to stick with the amount of food allotted, and God help me if I eat one of those snacks earlier...then I'm thinking I should just go to bed. Its hard to STOP. I do most of my crazy stuff after 7:00. Anybody have some ideas?

I'm like you, I get in bed! I drink water, chew gum, and on a few occasions I have had carrots or celery with some low fat ranch. that hour from 8:30 to 9:30 is my killer crave time...I want chocolate!

Okay, I made it through Phase I, not as cleanly as I would have liked to, but I ended up losing 3.6 pounds. Not bad, almost the 4 promised. I have not started off Phase II in the cleanest of ways, as I visited the coffee shop for breakfast this morning. As I was reading about Phase II, I had to laugh about how Dr. Ian thinks I must be cruising through this because I'm not hungry anymore. I'm hungry all the freakin' time!!!! I just read a short interview with Julianne Moore who said she's always hungry and constantly dieting. She couldn't imagine there were any actresses that weren't hungry. Well, there are plenty of real girls that are hungry all the time, too!!! Hope everyone is hanging in there!

Amazingly, I've been left alone at the house this weekend. No husband. No CHILDREN! So I was down on the treadmill last night, getting in my hour and thinking about how when I was done I should go out and get a 'Bacon Cavern Burger with Cheese', and a shake of the day. I didn't cave, but I didn't stick to plan. Instead I had two eggs, with two pieces of Canadian bacon and TWO pieces of toast with apple butter. It may have been a little high in calories. Certainly no two veggies and a whole grain. But a much better choice than a burger with bacon and cheese! It will definitely be a struggle this weekend to stick to the program as much as possible. It's easy not to do any food prep when you are by yourself! So I'm off to my 35 minutes on the treadmill. Hope everyone is holding up okay!

Hey gals! We made it back to the States and I am really excited because I've been totally sticking with my modified plan since we've arrived. I realized it would be setting myself up for failure if I tried to go 100% on plan, so I'm allowing myself to eat one serving (NO SECONDS) of food that others have prepared for me. It's working perfectly because I'm not stressed about trying to stay on plan when we visit the grandparents, for example, and since everyone knows I'm a vegetarian and eat relatively healthy anyway, it's not like they're cooking fried balls of fat for me!

My one year old is nursing so this typing is going rather slowly. I'll check in again soon.

Here's some for anyone who needs it!
