I am in my second rotation, cycle 2. Currently lost about 18 pounds (8 pounds in the first week). Pretty much stuck straight to the diet (although 2 days I "cheated" for special occasions but didn't go overboard). At the very beginning my energy was low, so I started taking iron supplements to help. Have to say I'm still very excited about this diet even after 5 weeks due to such great results. Best of luck to you!

Do you have to follow the menu to the " T" or are you able to eat the allowed foods during any meal

I have made some changes to the menus. For example I try not to eat carbs after 5 so if it calls for brown rice at dinner, I will just have veggies or a lean protein instead. Even with these changes I lost 4 lbs in the first cycle of EFS.
Hope that helps!
Kate

Towards the end of phase 2 of EFS I started changing things up. I'm still eating the allowed foods, but not necessarily sticking to the daily menu. I'm continuing to lose, so I guess that is a good sign.

Hi All,
I'm on EFS, phase 2 day 3. I lost 7 lbs the first week and my husband lost 10. We have both stayed the same so far on phase 2. Did anyone else slow down during this phase? We are going by the plan in the book and not so much the daily menu from this site.

Kfreekave, I just finished phase 2 of the EFS. I followed it to the letter except I ate a regular dinner near the end on our anniversary. I lost 3.6 pounds the first week and 0.5 pound at the end of phase 2. I'm disappointed but didn't expect that I would lose 4 pounds every week with this diet as it sounded to good to be true. I decided to keep going and do it for at least 2 more weeks since I have lost more in the last 2 weeks than I have in the last 4 months of working so hard at it.
I have to say that overall I feel great and "tighter" since I started. It feels like I've eaten more fruits and vegetables in the last two weeks than I have in the last two years!

Kfreekave, you might want to take your measurements so that you can compare those on weeks where you aren't losing as much by the scale. There are probably still changes going on! I've been doing EFS for about 2 months now and I've been losing anywhere from 0 to 2 pounds a week (since the first week when I lost 4) following the plan pretty closely, but my clothes keep fitting looser and my husband keeps telling me that I'm looking thinner, so the scale doesn't always reflect a change in size.

After my first three weeks of EFS (11 pounds), there was a couple times my loss slowed down. But stick with it! After 7 weeks, I have now lost 23 pounds! Best of luck!

extreme
I just started the Extreme version less than 4 days ago. I've lost 3 lbs already. I started talking mulitvitamins immediately so I wouldn't get dizzy or tired. I feel great. I have so much energy, I dont' know what to do with it all. I'm hoping I will lose 5 lbs the first week.
Could I change the menu around to have my "meat" and rice together or should I just follow the book to the T?
Someone help!

I'm considering doing a week or two of weight watchers and then getting back to EFS since maybe my body has gotten used to what I'm eating on EFS. I'm thrilled with my 10 pounds, but I'd really like it to be 15 or 20!

Try cycle 1 again

Ok, we have started losing again. I guess our bodies just had to adjust a little bit. Thanks for all of the help.

This is my 5th day of cycle one. I've lost 7 lbs so far. I follow the book exactly as it was written for the first 3 days then got tired of eating plain salads. I made a few adjustments by adding small things like italian spices to my salad and grilling my lettuce. Sounds like it's not so tasting, try it. Just put a little EVOO on the lettuce, grill for 1-2 minutes then sprinkle on Italian herbs and your taste buds will thank you. ENjoy

I am planning on starting the EFS next week and I am trying to go ahead and plan the weeks meal so I don’t get off track. I am not use to cooking or eating a lot of beans and I am not sure if I can find ways to make it a little more interesting. Like on days that call for beans and veggies I would like to do a stir fry. Do bean sprouts count as beans? What about sugar snap peas (in the pods) is that a bean or a veggie. Also has anyone use tofu (I think it is a soy product). I am also not sure about the smoothies - can you buy them already prepared and take to work. I work out in the country and don’t have a lot of access to anything healthy in the day. Also, does corn count as a veggie or is it too starchy. I think the diet will be good for me to get in the habit of eating more veggies - but as I don’t have a good record of preparing veggies - beans I need help. Does anyone have favorite ways to prepare simple sides or dishes that won’t cheat you on the diet.
Thanks,
Mae

Hmm, I guess you could say that I'm doing something like extreme fat crashing.
My diet while I try to lose weight will consist of 90% fruits and vegetables. After a few weeks (don't know when yet as I'm just starting out), I will also eat a little Couscous from time to time - it's great against hunger (when you have eaten 10 apples but still feel hungry), easy to make (for a guy like me who LOVES to eat but not to cook) and it is also pretty healthy (it's just wheat).
After some time, I *may* eat the occasional meat or egg though. I can go a three weeks without it, but then I just can't think about anything else.

Hi everyone, I just joined the site & I started EFS b/c I came on and read everyones stories, you all seem to be doing very well.
I have been smashing for 3 days.I havent lost anything yet and I work out for double the amount of time required each day. I think thats weird b/c I lost 25 lbs in 3 months just with portion control (and some exercise 2x wk) now Im putting forth extra effort and it doesnt seem to be working. ???? I'm an obsessive weigher so maybe that is my problem. Has anyone deviated, or eaten extra snacks (under 100 cal ) and still had progress?
