Any LDS dieters here?
I was just wondering if there were any LDS people floating around the board. There was another thread, but it looked like a couple of months since anyone wrote anything on it. Anyways just curious.

I'm LDS and just starting this round of weightloss. I've always had a problem weight but within the last 2 years it has really skyrocketed. I lost my daugther 2 1/2 years ago (I was 5months pregnant at the time with her). Ever since then it has been an out of control downward spiral.
I just came across this website a couple of days ago and hope that I'll be able to find enough support here to break the weightgain. I would love to hear from all of you other LDS members!

It's going pretty well except for the exercising. I can't stay motivated. Do you have any suggestions?

Have you checked out the exercise thread. There are a lot of different ideas over there. I personally use an elliptical, exercise ball, and various exercise tapes. I like Walk Away the Pounds, and a few Richard Simmons tapes. He's corny, but the moves are easy and fun!
So what type of diet are you doing? What do you like to do for exercise? What do you like to do for fun?
Sorry it took me a while to reply. Hope your Thanksgiving was great!

Hello -- I just signed on tonight after googling Slim4Life, which I have an 11:00 appointment with tomorrow... kind of nervous, I have a very long way to go to get to goal weight. I know what I really need to do is give up sugar cold turkey, but that is sooo hard. And I'm probably a dork for trying to do it at Christmas, but maybe not!
Yikes, I just realized the last post was November of 2006, not 2007!! Well, hopefully somebody else would like to jump in!

I'm around sometimes! You're so brave to give up sugar, I could never do that!

I used to come to this site alot but have kinda dwindled. i have been looking for some other lds women to share my journey with. there is a group on sparkpeople but it is large and i have not bonded with anyone yet. maybe i am just not putting myself out there enough.
anyway i was raised in the church but my dh is not a member. most of the time this is not a problem. i have two kids: dd-15 and ds-3 (will be 4 at the end of april).
i would really like to chat with other members who are struggling like me with their weight.
i do well for a few weeks but then it's back to square one again. i am not doing any specific diet, just watching portions and not eating junk or fast foods. well i try anyway. i am also allergic to wheat so i can't do those meal replacement programs. besides i couldn't really afford it anyway. I am hoping ot be able to join WW when i get my car paid off but that won't be until June. i can't just sit around getting bigger til then.
several people i know have had or are having WLS. i don't think i am ready for that but some days i really thnk that is my only way out.
anyway, i hope to get to know you girls better...amy

Hi ladies!
I think this thread is a great idea. I am LDS and I just joined this site today. What are everyone's biggest struggles with losing weight (besides everything? haha). I think my biggest is binging - just general lack of self-control. I don't think I really recognize why I binge, so that may be part of the problem.
Hope everyone comes and posts more - I think we'd be a great support for one another. Feel free to PM me if you want!

I am LDS but inactive since the start of my school year and haven't been to church since January. Senior in university + full time job + internship= exhausted. I'm 27 and not married. I do have a boyfriend of two months (first one I've had ever). He is not a member but since I've never dated before him or even kissed anyone at all I am just enjoying it right now.

Kierra, that is great that you are dating someone and really enjoying it. I hear you about being in school and a job and being exhausted. I am facing some of the same challenges. Motivation to go to church and to be healthy are very low. Not sure why
