God's RECALL
Here is another thought from the e-mail Angie and I get, from the Pastor, of the church we visit in Washington...
Here’s something to think about from Dr. Dale Meyer. I found it very thought-provoking and worthwhile.
The Toyota recalls are a big business story. I haven’t kept up with how many models have been recalled, but it’s enough to give the maker headaches.
Has our Maker thought about recalling us? The first page of the Bible says, “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good” (Genesis 1:31) but soon sin came, sin accelerated, no brakes were applied, and, yes, God did a recall. “The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. So the Lord said, ‘I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth.’” (Genesis 6:5-7) Only Noah and his family survived that cataclysmic “recall.”
Another “recall” is promised, the final judgment. Between creation and the last day, you and I should be something like the driver who notices something is wrong. How can we not notice something is indeed wrong in our world, wrong with people, wrong with you, with me? But rather than be shocked when that final “recall” comes, we should voluntarily recall ourselves every day to the Maker’s ways. Only the Spirit of God can fix our fatally defective being. He does it in His shop, the place called “repentance.”
Repenting,
Pastor Mark
