Ladies, I am DYING here, I am so excited!

Victory #1 - The scale. I got off of said scale this morning and weighed in at 209.8! I am not calling it or changing tickers unless my weigh in on Monday shows the same thing, but it was very exciting for me, as I cannot remember seeing that decade on the scale (I went from 185-ish to 215/220 over two years, with no weigh ins in between) and it is a big milestone decade for me, as it puts me within spitting distance of Onederland.

It was also my personal goal for November to be in the single digit 200's, so I achieved that as well.

Victory #2 - the more exciting NSV. I was digging for some books and my yarn swift in storage area under our laundry room table, and saw the box with my wedding dress under there. I don't know what I weighed when I got married, but I believe it was in the 210-220 range and I wore a 16/18 (in May 2006). I figured it would fit on me, but didn't know if it would be tight, loose, what have you.

Well chickies, I went upstairs and pinned on the petticoat, which overlapped by at least four inches and was a 2x. It was big, so I was hopeful. I didn't want to call my husband upstairs until I had the gown on, so I had to put it on alone. I decided to leave it zipped and slip it over my head to see if it would fit on that way.

It did. Fully zipped.

The first thing I noticed was the gaping shoulders, it was very loose up there. I then centered in front of the mirror and pulled it inward. Mind you, I was wearing shapewear for the wedding, and a dumpy wirefree bra and loose undies today. And still, the gown was a good 3-4 inches too loose in the waist and maybe 2 inches in the bust, and GIGANTIC everywhere else.

It not only fit, but three years, two kids, and 50 pounds up and back on the scale and it was at least 1-2 sizes TOO BIG! I had it custom made for me, so it is fascinating to see how my dimensions had changed.

My husband's first comment was that it looked BIG, just everywhere looked ill fitting. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I AM *SMALLER* THAN I WAS AS A 19 YEAR OLD BRIDE!!!! AHHHHHH YAY!!!!! :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

One of my big goals, whenever I get down to a size I am really comfortable at (probably in the 130-140 range)) I want to completely overhaul the gown and have a rededication ceremony with new wedding pictures. The biggest thing I regret about my wedding day is that all I can see when I look at my album is a bloated, self-conscious bride. I know I was beautiful, but I want a set of pictures I am PROUD of.

Okay chickies, I just had to share, I am SCREAMING with joy right now, and feel on top of the world! :D

I have been reading about TEF or "the thermic affect of food" which is the calories expended by our bodies in order to consume (bite, chew and swallow) and process (digest, transport, metabolize and store) the food we eat.

I've seen different estimates about the percent of calories burned in the digestion etc. of food, but all the sources agree that protein is the highest ... we apparently burn up to 30% of the calories of protein in our eating/digestion process. (The comparable numbers for fat burning is maybe 3% and carbs up to 8%.) So if you eat 100 calories of protein, it translates into only about 70 calories because you apparently "use up" 30 calories or so in the process of eating and digesting the protein.

So ... my question is ... does anyone take advantage of TEF by eating lots of protein? Has anyone had any negative effects from eating too much protein ... and if so, how much is too much? Thanks!

heya ladies, just popping in to say I'm still truckin' along.

I never have time for here anymore, and I miss you all so much. This week has been hard at work, I wake up at either 4 am or 7 (three hours before I need to be there, it's kind of a far bus ride) and am in bed by about 8 pm after getting home and eating at 730.

I am only working part time, 32 hours, but I worked the last 5 days straight. even on days that I was home early I came home and was busy and then a nap would turn into going to bed for the night. even though I only work 32 hours that doesn't include the 2 hours commuting (one hour there and one hour back) or the hour it takes me to get ready to get out of here in the morning. (I have to get up early enough to use my light therapy box, my mood was suffering cuz I wasn't using it)

so all in all I haven't had time for anything. I'm told it'll calm down after the crazy holiday hours end and no more super early mornings like 5 am where Ihave to get up by 2 just to be there on time! I think I gained a few lbs, but am trying to just maintain for now. just because I'mso stressed. but i"m sure once I settle in better, it'll be easier to get back to losing.

In order to not be tempted, I poured soy sauce all over the chocolate. I feel proud that even though I had to literally force myself not to eat it, I still didn't eat it. And hopefully my next NSV will be that I can resist it without the soy sauce!

So many friends my age are bemoaning their bodies aging and/or now having to start daily cholesterol or BP meds.

But every month my body is getting younger in appearance and abilities due to weight loss and the behavoiurs that got me there such as daily exercise and eating right.

So even though the process is way slower than it was in my 20s, the payoff seems so much better!
