Okay maybe the word 'emergency' is a bit dramatic but I am trying very hard to stay OP.

My husband was supposed to bring me home a hardee's low carb thickburger, and a side salad. This is why I did not cook tonight.

Instead he brings me this grilled chicken salad in a huge fried tortilla (what was he thinking??) with packets of ranch.

He said he didn't know they put the salad in big tortillas, but that the salad came with fried chicken and he specifically requested grilled chicken.

So I dumped the salad onto a plate, discarded the tortilla. The dressing and the chicken taste really sweet, so I checked the dressing packet, only 2g a serving, so that's fine. The problem is the grilled chicken, it is sweet, and why??

Then he tells me something about he thinks the hardee's grilled chicken is honey glazed? Umm.. ???

So I thought fast, I took a bottle of Fillippo Berio's EVOO and poured a teaspoon or so on my salad in the hopes of combating whatever evil sugars may be in the grilled chicken marinade.

Good idea ??

Me: 192.5, up two and half pounds from last week. My first gain in a while, and it's a big one. I suspect that some of it is from last week, I really wasn't expecting a loss and I think I might have just been dyhydrated or something. But, I obviously have to focus on getting back on track. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving is next week, and my food scale just died. Nooooo!

Hi Ladies,

I'm going to be going on a family vacation soon. I'll admit right up front that I'm torn.

One part of me says that this is something that happens once a year. Enjoy it and get back to it when I return. Another part of me says that isn't wise. To be honest, I'm not even certain I have the willpower or committment to stay on plan while I'm gone. That's why I'm thinking about it now. I'm trying to plan. Trying to decide what is best and how to make it happen.

Any opinions? My guess most people will say be good during vacation. If so, would you mind giving me any hints on how to stay successful when everyone else is indulging? (my husband and son can eat all they want and are lean and muscular)

*chewing my lip*

Any helpful hints, ladies?

Please?

Thanks so much.

I was going to post on the thread about losing weight & getting male attention - that is happening to me, too, except I'm married so while I'm flattered, the increased male attention/compliments also makes me really uncomfortable.

But anyway, it brought up another issue for me that I am having to deal with. I don't work in an appearances-driven industry (software industry). But I do work for a smaller company and appearances have always been really important here. I do remember when interviewing for the job, my job recruiter made a comment about how the managers will like me because I'm "young, pretty, female" in so many words. I was also 185 lbs at the time. After I was hired I slowly gained another 30 lbs and finally topped out at 213. It is NO secret that most of the managers/owners here tend to treat the few women who work here that are attractive differently.

Since then I've lost 60 lbs, but the only part of my weight loss that I am vocal about is the fact that I am a runner (which is how I lost weight). Since losing weight, people are more friendly to me. They go out of their way to strike up conversation, compliment me, include me. People who wouldn't even look at me when I weighed 200+ lbs now are friendly with me. I work in a male-dominated industry so I am mostly surrounded by men and they have no qualms about complimenting me.

I'm sure part of it is that I am more confident about myself. I don't look down whenever I pass someone in the hall. I am happy to talk about my running/weight loss if someone asks me. And since I feel good about MYSELF, I'm sure it reflects in my personality. But I'll be honest, while I am happy for the new "acceptance", it still bothers me that people treated me differently when I was obese.

Anyone else run into the same experience?
