Thumbs up New Tunes

It's the funniest thing - I just downloaded three new songs for my iPod and now can't wait to go to the gym! Wish it was morning already!

It made me realize how much music keeps me going - in fact, if the iPod stops, so do I. I read a study that we go 20% faster with music and boy, do I believe it!

So let's share our favorite playlists for workouts. My new cardio songs are Tell Me Baby (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Little Things (Bush), and Crazy (Gnarls Barkley), so tomorrow's playlist looks like this:

Tell Me Baby
Little Things
Crazy
Steady As She Goes - The Raconteurs
Fire Woman (live) - The Cult
Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm
Remember The Name - Fort Minor
Rapture - Iio
Dani California - RHCP
Megalomaniac - Incubus
Silver and Cold - AFI
Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet
Operation Spirit - Live
Orange Crush - REM
New Years Day - U2

I need a few more to beef it up to 60 minutes, so what are you listening to? What makes your feet move whenever you hear it??

PS - I'm planning on setting a new speed record tomorrow morning - you may hear a sonic boom around 6 AM.

Meg, you have great musical taste! I love Gnarls Barkley (so does DD--we sing to it in the car!). I'll have to run home and check my iTunes before I can think of something to add to your playlist.

Wow, very cool playlist. Here are some more thoughts--

Mas Que Nada by Sergio Mendes (I know, trust me)
My Doorbell by White Stripes
Bang Bang by David Sanborn (I know, trust me)
Girl by Beck
Rockstar by Nickleback

and for some oldies but goodies--

anything by Modern English, English Beat or the Kinks (particularly "Destroyer")

Enjoy, maybe I'll hear the sonic boom all the way up here in Canada!

Meg: Love your playlist. I think my Ipod is what got me in trouble in the first place. I know I work a lot harder with it as well.

Music is such a personal thing but okay here's what I listen to when I want to get some work done. (Shyly scrolling through my playlists to find something that isn't going to embarress me too badly.)

Snow (Hey Oh) (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Suddenly I See (KT Tunstall)
Werewolves of London (Warron Zevon)
Beautiful(Moby)
Lets Work Together (Canned Heat)
I Got a Woman (John Mayer)
Work it Out (Jurrasic 5 with John Mayer)
Hard to Concentrate (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Get it Like you Like It (Ben Harper)
Shaking the Tree (remix Peter Gabriel)
Cleaning Windows(Van Morrison)

Slow Dancing in a Burning Room (John Mayer) Not exactly cardio but I really like this one. Usually use it during my cooldown or abdominal work.

Okay, Meg, I consulted my iTunes and here are a few recommendations:

Collective Soul--Blender or You Speak my Language or Happiness
Hives--Hate to tell You I Told you so
Korn--Word Up
Killers--Mr. Brightside
Matchbox 20--Girl Like That
Offspring--One Fine Day
Smash Mouth--Can't Get Enough of You Babe
Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble--The House is Rockin'
Velvet Revolver--Sucker Train Blues or Slither

I have very eclectic music tastes. I guess it come from working in a record (CD???--am I dating myself?) store for many years in college. I'll listen to anything except hip hop and rap (okay, there are some rap songs that I like). My DD is planning on going to college to study music and music education. I guess my influence rubbed off on her a little. She's on a run to have more music on her iTunes than I have (and she stole my iPod!). Shall I tell her that she exceeded me months ago? LOL

I hope this thread continues, I love the ideas. In fact I just remembered I have a double SRVaughn CD and the RHCP CD I can download from. Oh and I love that song Cleaning Windows, I love all Van Morrison music.

I got a couple of songs from a similar thread that I just tried and was happy with.

Fighter - Christine Aguilera
Bodyrock - Moby
Fast Killer kittycat (or something like that) - Oakenfold (a techno DJ)
Yeah! - Usher
Heartbreaker - Pat Benatar

I have to make playlists to organize my music, I'm slowing getting techno savvy! I also like some disco songs, Bee Gees, KC & the Sunshine band and some old favorites for walking...Crazy on You, Barracuda, Magic man, Dog and Butterfly, (all by Heart) etc.

Keep the suggestions coming. I think I need to get an arm band because last night my MP3 player went flying at the gym I had to get off my machine and pick it up. I also managed to lose the right ear bud cover and I just paid $30 for the darned things

Talking Mmmm... music!

NOW you're talking my language! I am a music FIEND... which tends to get kinda painful on the budget, but uhhh... that's another topic entirely.

a note or two, before I list... some of the songs are Japanese pop/rock songs. I'm fascinated by Japanese culture... especially the music, and anime. and some of the songs are actually slow songs (I'll mark those with a *)... it works for me, because I just workout double-time to them, and they're motivating to me, because they're some of my favorites.

lessee... my workout tracks, at the moment:

"Hey Jupiter" - Tori Amos*
"Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" - Trace Adkins
"My Give a Damn's Busted" - Jo Dee Messina
"Tsuki No Uta" - Gackt*
"Let Go" - Frou Frou
"Have You Got It In You" - Imogen Heap
"Poison Girl" - H.I.M.
"Rich Girl" - Gwen Stefani
"Cage" - Dir En Grey
"Question" - System of a Down
"Must Be Dreaming" - Frou Frou
"Metamorphoze" - Gackt
"Don't Cha" - The kittycat Dolls
"Wicked Game" - H.I.M.
"Canto Alla Vita" - Josh Groban (featuring the Corrs)
"Devil's Dance Floor" - Flogging Molly
"Lips of an Angel" - Hinder*
"My Name Is Trouble" - Nightmare of You
"Lucky" - Bif Naked*
"Hips Don't Lie" - Shakira (featuring Wyclef Jean)
"Right Here In My Arms" - H.I.M.
"Celebrity Skin" - Hole
