Exercises that Don't Bulk muscles
This may seem like a totally dumb question...but does anyone know of any exercises that I can do that won't bulk up my thighs?? I'm only 5'0" tall, and have extremly short legs, but I have been finding that my thighs have been bulking up and I've been gaining inches there, instead of losing them like I wanted to! My thighs are huge now, and don't look like they belong to my body! Can anyone give any suggestions??

Walking should be fine (or running if you're fit enough!), but if you're talking about weight training then you need to stick to isolation exercises. These are the ones where only one joint moves (Leg extension, Lex Curl, etc). Unfortunately they burn less calories than Compound exercises (more than one joint moves: squats, lunges, etc)
Of more inportance may be how your program is structured. Many people do the usual 3 sets of 10 reps then wonder why they bulk up. Can you put your program up? Ray Ray |
I don't have a program, I got for a walk about 40 minutes or more a day, and that's all....pretty simple. That's why I don't understand why they are bulking so bad!

That is unusual. I don't know much about Ontario but is it quite mountainous?
If so, that could do it. Ray |
I've been doing t-tapp for the last couple years off and on-- it builds muscle density, not bulk. Might be worth looking into for you? www.t-tapp.com
You can get a lot of info reading the FAQs and forums. hth! |
Thick thighs can be sexy. That said, slow endurance sports (marathoning, distance cycling, etc.) will keep you in good cardio shape without building much muscle. Probably not as healthy, though.
