Default Question about hula hooping

I have a question about hula hooping. After spending 6+ months healing my tendonitis, I re-injured it after using the ellipical for 7 MINUTES! So, while I'm waiting for my new air cast to arrive, I was wondering if hula hooping could count as my cardio? I'm going to continue my strength training with , but I need some cardio. What do you think?

I certainly believe hula hooping would count as cardio.

It's interesting that you should mention this form of exercise because it reminded me of something I did about 25 years ago to loose some weight (before I messed my metabolism up on the yo-yo diet-go-round). It was a time when we still had record players with needles and listened to record albumns... Each day after work I'd come home and turn on Van Halen's "1984" albumn and hula hoop toward the left for one side of the albumn, then turn the albumn over and hula hoop toward the right as I listened to the second side of the albumn. Sure enough, along with decreasing my calories, the weight came off. I worked up a moderate sweat doing that workout and know my heart rate increased but I'm not certain how high it got. I do remember it being a good work out though and I loved the music because it was fast and had a good beat for hula hooping to.

Sadly, later in life when I gained weight again, my hula hoop routine did not work mainly because I no longer had enough of a waist for the hula hoop to slide around in... it would fall to the floor!!!

Good luck with your hula hoop exercise and most especially with your tendonitis!!
