Default Just wondering - swimming

I'm just wondering on average how many lengths people can do in an hour?

I only ask cos i just came back from my daily swimming session and pushed myself really hard and managed 77 lengths in the hour! now i know this is good even for me as my previous best was about 60 an hour and i had to take a break yet i managed this all in one go. feel so energetic now. had i not set a time limit i might have stopped longer but i decided i should get out o fthe pool for fear they'd think i have turned into the water!

but yeah, so how far so people swim on average in an hour? found something which tells me how many calories burnt but it's based on an average number of lenghts but doesn't say what average!

When I swim, I go by miles. But I can swim a mile (72 lengths in a 25 yard pool) in 46 minutes. So it sounds like you are doing REALLY WELL!! I'm not sure what the average is for everybody but I know that I get a minute or two faster every time I swim (when I started a little over a month ago, I could swim 72 lengths in 68 minutes). I usually swim 2 miles when I go because 1 mile is getting too easy and goes by too fast. Brag brag brag Like I said, it sounds like you are doing really well!! My best friend (male) went swimming with me a few weekends ago and he could barely do 4 lengths , so he got out and sunbathed (what a girl!). I think we are doing pretty darn good!! Keep it up!

It depends how big the pool is! I do 1000 metres in about half an hour (give or take a few minutes either way). In a 15 metre pool that's 67 or so lengths.
