Default Hula hoops

I found a hula hoop in the cellar... And was wondering wether it's any good for exercise? I heard it was bad for your back?

I couldn't find any info on how may calories it burns either.

I asked about hula hoops on Ladies Who Lift last April and Mrs Jim posted this:

there MUST be a Hula-Hoop website somewhere...lemme look...ai! here's one: http://www.hula-hoops.com/instructions.html

She's selling an instructional video, but there are instructions on her site.
I can only do the basic (and I'm still not much good at it but I'd like to be ...) I do it best with very little clothing on around the middle!

I haven't heard that about the back. If you take it steadily and build up, you'd probably be OK. Unless your back was dodgy to start with.

Good luck.

Everything I've heard about hula hoops are they are supposed to be good exercise. I saw the one at Curves and so I went out and bought a cheap $2 hoop. I don't want the extra weighted ones right now with pregnancy. And I'm finding that it's hard to keep the plastic lightweight one up when the belly's so round. LOL

Well after you have the baby try the weighted ones I could never keep up regular hoops but these stay up better. I LOVE MY HOOP I bought a 5 lb one.

The hula-hoop targets the stomach, right?
