Best way to get rid of love handles

:?: Hello, I am looking for the better way to get rid of the love handles, I ride the stationary bike, and walk everyday, every other day I do weights. Everything is shrinking but those handles. I am looking for help on some other ideas on what to do.

Thanks

sjc  and WELCOME !!

To answer your question simply there is no such thing as spot reducing love handles, abs, thighs OR whatever....

Whas IS important is your diet, low fat, good lean proteins, healthy carbs, no processed foods meaning foods as close to nature as possible and certainly no JUNK food like chips, chocolate, etc.... What is also important is consistency in your eating pattern, stick to it... This used to be my problem and I was hard pressed to admit it, I would lose 5# then gain them back, this was because I didn't stick to my plan. Now I make it a ''lifestyle'' because that's what is....

I hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply,
Which exercise do you think I would benefit the most from? I think I am confused as to which is better to help lose the weight, I read one day it is cardio and then the next is weights.

Both!! All kidding aside you do need a combination of both...

To start you should strength train 2-3 times/week and do cardio 2-3 times/week...

I'm no expert but from what I understand as you lose weight you will loose muscle mass. Muscle is very important because it burns more calories even when sedentary than if you didn't have muscle. Strength training is good for your bones also and keeps osteoperosis at bay...

Here are some sites you can look into:

Muscle is smaller than fat ... See the muscle vs. fat pic in my signature ...

Hope this helps!! TTFN...

Part of it too is that some places will be the last to go. I just kept exercising and eating right and eventually my waist caught up with the rest of my weightloss. I was beginning to think I'd always have that little paunch in the lower front. But it did start shrinking, just after everything else had shrunk.

Thanks for the links Ilene, their great! Especially the Weight Loss For All site, I was doing some reading on it and found out why I might not be seeing many results, I'm exercising much harder and burning carbs not fat! I guess it isn't always the best to work as hard as u can, the key is longer durations of easier exercises!! Maybe I will start walking for an hour a day instead of doing 30 minutes of HARD aerobics that make me wanna die lol
