This was my first ever race, a half Marathon trail race held a few hours away from me. It was a challenging first race, and after I signed up for it, I was very nervous and excited. It was very much uphill, but the scenery was beautiful and the weather was perfect! I finished at a very slow 3:18, and I was in last place, but I couldn't have cared less. Around a hundred people entered many were very serious racers who came out to have a bit of fun. There was even a guy there that had competed in the Leadville 100 (I dream of doing ultras, and maybe even that race someday in the distant future). The aide stations were manned by the Army Reserves and boy those guys were amazing. It seemed like they could predict when I needed water better than I could. When I got thirsty, I found a new water in my hand, and they were very positive and gracious. I even had one of the guys run the last seven miles with me, and that was just amazing. I am so glad I picked this race to be my first, even though it was so challenging and my sweet husband got amazing pictures and videos of the surroundings and me racing.
I just wanted to share my momentous occasion. Attached is a photo of me crossing the finish line!
