Default Running with Knee Pain

I am looking for someone with a bit of medical experience to give me some advice about some knee pain I am having.

The pain is on the right hand side of my right knee and only starts after either about 10 minutes of running or if I try to run after I have been cycling. The pain is quite dull but my knee area tightens up after exercise to the point where it feels quite weak and unstable the next morning.

This might be a bit of a long shot but I have a running race coming up in a few weeks time and I would hate to have to miss it. I have seen some people who have had running related knee problems in the past use some kind of tape to strap their legs up when they run. Is this something that I could do do you think?

My Exercise Goals:
lose 20 lbs by Dec-13
Sub 1 hour 10km run
London tri relay 10 km

This could be an IT Band issue - sounds like it.

I used an It Band Strap while rehabbing it. Look up IT Band and see if that's what you think your issue is.

You'll need to do strengthing and stretching exercises, but the band can allow you to ruin while rehabbing.
