Well I am off to cool off we had the tripple digits today and maybe rest of the week!

Hello Ladies-

Well today I took a break from the gym, and just did a regular walk. I got in 3 miles. But it's back to the gym tomorrow. Today was my weigh in day and I am down 5 pounds!!! I am only 3 pounds away from my vacation goal. I probobly won't make it because we are leaving on Saturday, but if I come close I will be happy. I just can't believe I have lost this 27 pounds so far.

Well it's official......I have gone nuts planning this trip to New Mexico. It's becoming a bigger headache than I thought it would. I won't bore you with the details. It's in my journal if you want to take a look. Don't want to make this post too long.

Jenifer: OH MY GAWD!!!! doesn't kaiser suck sometimes? I have had my doc say that I need a breast reduction since I was 16 (and I was thin until I was 19) and kaiser said it was cosmetic and wouldn't cover it. Not to mention my mom....questionable moles and stuff.....Cosmetic. Did you ever hear about that little girl that was born with out the facial muscles to be able to smile? Kaiser wouldn't pay for her surgery until there was a huge protest and court battle. Because again they said it was COSMETIC. The little girl was not able to SMILE for goodness sakes. Now after like 12 years she can smile. Sometimes I wonder what we pay the premium for?

Well to everyone else How the heck are ya? Everybody seems to be off to a great start. Talk to you all tomorrow!!!

Hi all

It's amazing how, once you become active, how much more active you become. Does that make sense? You become energised, motivated. I'm finding I'm doing so much more actively than I did before. For example, I cleaned my dad's car today, in record time, as well as jogging up and down the road to get stuff from my parents house. On top of that I went for a 30 minute walk and did my stretches! Before getting into this, just cleaning the car would've buggered me!

Food was ok, but Marc made my favourite Banana cake - had 2 pieces with a mug of light hot chocolate, while watching CSI. Love that program!

Cristi, WOOO HOOO on the loss - it's the best when you're not expecting it!!! I hate weigh in's too - there's so much PRESSURE. I know some people who never weigh for that very reason. I'm a bit of a scale-aholic, so I have to weigh, but it really puts the pressure on your week, when you are obsessed with whether the scale's gonna go up or down a notch! I reckon we shouldn't weigh every week, because weight fluctuates so much, but I couldn't cope going that long without!

Hope you're all having a good week.

chow!

I'm not going to join this challange but I really admire the dedication to walking. 75 miles in one month is a lot of miles. I walk/jog 2.5 miles three times a week for about 30 miles a month. We have an half hour limit on the treadmill during peak times (which seams to be always) so I usually only do 2.5 miles but would like to do more.

Michelle, Welcome, it looks your doing great well on your wat to GW

Jenifer, Sorry to hear about your rotten insurance, let us know what you find out. If it's ok I'd like to keep you in my prayers I am so jealous of your weather, it has turned dreary and cold here. The older I get the more I seriously contemplate moving to a more moderate climate. The colder weather can really give me the downers. About trees, my husband and I planted 4 trees the year our first child was born. 3 of them are now about 20 ft. tall. The 4th my sister-in-law mowed off. She tried to secretly replace it so her brother wouldn't get huffy. I noticed right way, because she replaced it with a different type of tree and then ended up mowing it down too the following week Needless to say we all agreed it wasn't the right place for a tree

Janine, Not to offer unsolicited advice, but maybe try setting your goal low. I went for 1 mile a day last month and it fealt so good when I surpassed it. I don't want to be an exercise "nut" I just want to move some most every day. For me aiming high just doesn't work, because it seems like work then.... You've come so close to your goal weight..... you can do it.

Raelynn,Welcome I love your quote. I may have to use them from time to time.

Jen, 5# lost, you totally rock babe! I'm believing you just might make that vacation goal. Great job

Lynne, A body in motion tends to stay in motion!!!

Cristi, Woohoo 1.5# gone for you. WTG!!

Turtle, WTG on your miles you're really starting the month out with a bang

Kristen, Awesome job on hit'n a zone. Doesn't it feel so good when you have the energy to do more than you planned.

Caledon, Come on and join us. There is no challenge here. We only challenge ourselves and route for everyone.

As for me, I finally have some miles to log and my eating was better yesterday and back to good today. I really need to get busy and make more whole wheat pasta and pita bread. It's just so much better than the boughten stuff and the whole grains make eating less so much easier. I'm looking forward to a field trip to WI Dells with my oldest child tomorrow. My father-in-law is even driving the bus we're taking, so we should have a good time. An added plus we're eating in a park so I can pack only healthy stuff and not have to resist any resteraunt food. Have a great eve ladies!

Kristi.
I know I should set a goal but things have been so crazy around here that I am afraid if I set any goal at all I will not meet it so I opt not to set a goal. I used to be able to get in my treadmill time but since I have had to make meeting with the special ed dept at school, meet for festivities at another school, get things going for my son to go to Boy Scout camp, me to a possible meet in Toronto, having DH send me on this errand or that errand I am just so exhausted by days end. Right now I am agrivated over trying to find another car seat/booster for my younger son. Having a problem finding on to fit with my car and it's only a 1997 Chevy so nothing unusual!!! I have to take a car seat/booster back to the store tomorrow and hope to find one that will fit my car.
I am doing alot of walking here and there doing this and that but have no way of measuring it all. Also yard work is in the mix now. UGH!!!
Not that I am making excuses but then maybe I am.
I had a 40 minute workout on my TO DO list for today but get one son off to school, laundry, clean in the kitchen, more laundry, get younger son in the shower, clean the bathroom then I had to go vote for the school budget dragging a 4 year old along for the fun, did some shopping, came home and put everything away then got things started for supper. I grilled a bunch of veggies and some chicken sausage out on the grill. Had to run out and get a new propane tank half way through grilling dragging an 11 and a 4 year old, finish supper, eat, clean up, talk with DH a bit, move car seat from my car into show car so DH can take the boys to a cruise night, go out and try and find a second car seat/booster (went to 2 stores for this), try and install the seat I did buy only to find out it isn't compatable with my car then get it back in the box then the box in the trunk, get the old seat out of the show car and put it in my car. By this time it was almost 9PM and past time to get DS#1 in bed. I have yet to read the evening papers and it is now 10PM. I have been trying to do some searching online for a seat/booster with no luck.
OK, venting is done. Tomorrow is another day so maybe tomorrow I can get in my 40 minutes but then I have a 4 year old to run back and forth to school along with laundry, taking that seat back and trying to find one to fit. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

hello babes

hope you're all having a nice day. today was beautiful. a beautiful day in boston... who would have thought? we have been stumped with bad weather. mother nature so hates the northeast. but it was beautiful today... i ended up going to newbury street during lunch with a coworker of mine. we hiked up the whole street just looking for these shoes. these particular shoes that her sister NEEDED to have. i looked at it as getting exercise, plus it was a nice day! so i really can't complain. we probably walked about a half mile during lunch... i'd say. and then tonight i walked two and a half... so that's 3 more miles for june. i'm so going to reach my goal.

jen - 5 pounds? that's awesome! keep up the excellent work! and let us know your secrets!

lynne - i totally agree with you about the ... the more your active the more you want to be active... type of thing. i can see it with myself as well. i welcome it with open arms! i also have to agree with you about the scale thing. that's why... if i have a scale at home... i'd be psychotic. weigh in once a week is good. but on those weeks that i don't lose as much as expected... i have to start counting my successes other ways.

kristi - good job getting back on track! whole wheats are so filling. i never realized it before... but it really does make a difference!

jenifer - please stop making me jealous of your weather! one week it will stay nice in boston... and i won't be jealous of you! keep up the great work with all your walking!

janine - it seems like you're doing a lot of activity already! if you add it all up, it does count for something. and i'm sure that you'll get your walks in... somehow in your busy schedule you will!!!

alright girlies... i'm out. oh... another notice of me losing weight. this time by my old manager. that was a huge surprise... cause he doesn't generally notice anything unless it's about him!

anyway... g'nite babes! keep on walkin'!

JUNE GOAL: 70 miles
MILES WALKED: 8 miles
MILES TO GOAL: 62 miles

Hey ladies!
It was super cold and rainy today but I dragged my butt outside and managed a mile with my umbrella. That makes 8.5 mi total so far this month. Yay for me and good luck to all!

Well today I didn't get a walk in. All I did was a 3.3 mile bike ride. Better than nothing. We brought the motor-home over today to start getting it ready..It's going to be busy around here for the next couple of days. I have to make sure the house is clean and then get ALL the laundry done by Thursday, because I want to get everything packed by Friday. My sis is still driving me crazy with all her complaining. I hear a mosquito flying around here. It's really bugging me.

Tomorrow is my sons last day of first grade. I have no idea where the year went. Pretty soon he'll be graduating high school.

Janine: I have to get stuff ready for boy scout camp too. Are you going with him or is it just fro the kids. I'm lucky enought o have my dad, his gradnpa going with him. I don't do well camping, unless I have a bed, t.v., microwave....stuff like that

Well we had a kidnapping here in Colorado today. We got the first Amber alert at around noon. Some lady took a 2 week old baby from his mom when I believe she was on a street corner waiting for a bus. Got back in the mini van and took off. They still have had no word on either of them yet. I'm praying they find the baby unharmed SOON. I can't imagine what his parents are feeling right now.

Well on that note, I'm going to go give my kids kisses and watch them sleep, and then I'm heading off to bed also. I'll talk to you all later.

Hey ladies. I'm doing good so far in the month of June, haven't missed a day yet (of course we're only 3 days into it, but every day counts right? ) . Anyway, I was a bit down in the dumps yesterday since I found out a friend and colleague of mine passed away suddenly on Sunday. Her niece and sister are traveling out here to HI to settle her affairs and her memorial service is scheduled for next Monday. She was a mentor, a friend and someone I'd call if I needed info on mutual customers--she always had the scoops on everyone. She was another one who battled w/her weight and within the past year and a half, she was winning that battle. I will miss her dearly.

Geez, I miss a day of posting and there's so much chatting going on--it's wonderful! Welcome to the newbies that I haven't said hello to: Raelyn, Michelle and even Caledon . Caledon, Kristi is right, join us--the only person you're challenging is yourself and no one else. Sorta like the game of golf...

Jen congrats on your amazing 5# loss. That is SUPER! You will reach your vacation goal, you sound so energized. Your trip sounds fun and if your sis keeps complaining, you can tell her you're leaving at 7 a.m. (then you get up early and leave @ 6a.m. --oops! ) It doesn't sound like she has kids, huh? You have fun either way. I hope they find that kidnapped infant. That is SO scary. I gave my boy an extra hug at bedtime too.

Turtle WTG on getting out there despite the rain .

Kristen, you're lucky to live in Boston even though the weather is unpredictable at this time of year. It's a city I'd love to visit one day. Me, I have to live in Hawaii of all places (hehe, just kidding) . No really though, I'd love to visit Boston. That's cool that your boss noticed your loss--it makes it especially "feel good" when someone of that sort notices. Good for you!

Janine, boy do I know that car seat problem! Luckily Toys R Us let us take a few out of the store to "try it on for size" before we bought. Good luck on getting one that fits. Yeah, you do sound really busy, you're sure to be burning a bunch of calories just doing your daily thing.

Jenifer, HMO's can suck big time. That's not cosmetic. I'll be sending good vibes your way for them to cover your service--medical premiums are so high anyway, they should cover something! Ugh, and 100 degrees??? We've been having 87-90 and I've been suffering.

Kristi have fun on your field trip tomorrow. Tell us how it went and what you saw.

Lynne I can feel your energy too. I totally know what you mean about becoming active and just wanting to do more and more. It's a good thing to become addicted too.

Cristi, good job on your loss!!! Sometimes the metabolism does wonders even though we think we messed up. See? All that walking and bike riding is doing a lot of good. Keep it up, you're doing great.

Well, it's almost bedtime for me...if I missed anyone, I'm sorry...hope you all have a great night an even better tomorrow.

See ya!
