Big Run!

  • I have been away on holiday, and I decided to do some hill running when I was away. I live by the beach and there are no hills, so I thought it might help. Just so you know...I am on week 7 of running.

The idea was to jog uphill for 7 minutes, then jog back down again, and repeat for about half an hour.

In practice I just sort of kept going and ran right to the top of the hill, until I could look into the next bay!

I say 'ran' to the top. Actually it was more like jog until you feel sick, walk until the nausea passes, then jog on again.

I cannot work out how to post photos on here, but I took some stunning photos of the run. They are on my blog if you would like to see them.

I am so very proud of myself...I could burst.

AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE RUNNING!!!
  • Congrats!!!! That's an awesome accomplishment! I love the benefits of running - and I actually do like running b/c I like pushing myself! I've gotten up to about 3.5 miles, hoping to hit 4 by the end of the month and keep building as I get ready for a big race I have this October! Keep up the good work!
  • I wanted to comment on your blog but there was an issue because I didn't have a Google account so my comment disapeared.. anyway...

Congrats on the hilly run! I have on hill runs per week on my schedule right now and even if they are a pain in the *** when you do them (I don't usually love feeling like I'm on the edge of dying ) they do wonderful things to your stamina and muscles legs

Congrats! Your photos on your blog are amazing, so lucky to be able to run surrounder by such a landscape!
  • Beautiful photos! And what a great accomplishment. Running in my neighborhood always means at least some medium size hills, once you get good at it you really feel powerful!

Aren't I lucky! Christchurch has had its problems over the last 18 months (10,500 of them and counting....) but we are still living in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. This morning I ran on the beach, as the sun rose through the mist, beautiful!

And other people have had this problem with blogger too, not being able to post unless you have a gmail account. Blogger is great because it is free, but I think I may have to look at other options if i want people to talk to me!
