When I run [my runs are usually 3 -6 miles], I have a lot of soreness in ONLY my RIGHT achilles tendon. It gets really tight and tender during & after my run - but my left leg/tendons are totally fine. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I try to get a good stretch in both before & after my workout so I'm not sure why this should happen & I have pretty good/new running sneakers. I can't figure out why it's only on one side...
Yes and be careful not to run if sore,i was out with achilles tendonitis for 6 weeks because I was stupid enough to keep running despite the soreness. Use the R.I.C.E method to speed up recovery and do heel drops to strengthen the tendon but dont run until your not feeling any soreness.
Yep, dynamic stretching prior to run, cold stretching after. I'm just confused b/c it's only my right foot. It feels like it's really tight, not like sharp pain...I mean I can walk on it the next day pretty fine to work which is about 1.5 miles walking...I wonder if it's the way I run...
Il say it again, rest until you get zero discomfort in it,that tightness will develop into real damage if you continue to ignore it. Tons of info on the net if you care to look.
Are you running on a track? Sidewalk? Street? It could be just your random injury/whatever but I'd also look at the cant (side-to-side tilt) of the surface you're running on, especially if you don't ever change sides/directions.
