Default Tips for working out during TOM?

I haven't done much of anything today because I just don't feel right. I just now found out I started my period, so that explains it. Been spotting the last few days and wondering when it was going to get here. I just feel sort of tired, light headed, not really concentrating too well. I still want to exercise today, but I almost feel like my blood sugar is low--not pass-out low, but like it's getting into the 80s (that's when I start to feel bad.) I checked it though and it's fine, and I just ate hardly an hour ago.

Would you still work out? Anything you do different when working out during your TOM? I don't like missing work out days but I just dont' feel right.

I would do a light workout like Yoga or Pilates

Yoga. I can't do cardio during TOM if my life depended on it, I'm too spacey and lethargic.

Gentle stretching, slow walking, yoga...but don't be hard on yourself either. Eat well, rest, and do what you can--or wait a day or two until you're ready.

I always feel 10x better after I work out when I'm on my period, especially the first day. It's HARD to get going but it's always worth it for me.

TMI alert: Idk if the OP is like me, but I have a very heavy flow the first day or two, so for that--intense workouts don't work so well. As far as cramps, bloating, and general icky feelings, exercise DEFINITELY makes me feel better during TOM!

I'm exactly like you, only my entire TOM except for the last day or two is very very heavy.

Definitely second the yoga/pilates. I have two DVDs that I will use on off/sick days. They don't necessarily burn a lot of calories, but it does tone muscles and improve flexibility, which is definitely something that is easy to neglect.
