I've taken belly dancing. I think it's a nice exercise but it doesn't get me sweating the way other classes do.
What I did like about it was that I learned other ways to move and work my abs.
Your instructor must not have been very hard on you.
My instructor has us all sweating, even the 130 pound girls within 5 minutes and keeps us sweating the entire time. She kicks our a$$es. I'm sore for DAYS afterwards.
