Body Pump

Hey Everyone,

I did a search and all the threads were pretty old. Does anyone here currently do Body Pump? A friend of mine talked me into trying a class tomorrow night, and I am both excited and nervous. I have been watching youtube videos, trying to get a sense of what it will entail.

Is it really hard? I have been upping my workouts lately, and my endurance is improving, but my friend is an avid exerciser (she's lost a lot of weight and is very dedicated to maintaining her loss, which is awesome) and I am afraid that I won't be able to keep up with her. I have been doing the 30DS or doing 4 miles on the elliptical in the mornings... any idea how much harder this class might be than that?

I am also afraid I might like it, lol. If I really enjoy it, I may want to go regularly and that is going to cost money...

When I lost 50 lbs a few years ago I was addicted to Body Pump. It involves using a bar with weights on the end. It is a combo weight lifting/cardio class because you just keep going and going. You only stop to change up your weights in between muscles. If you haven't been squatting or doing much exercise you will be barely walking the day after your first Body Pump class! For me, the "worst" (but best) part were all the squats. The weight bar sits across your back.

It's so much fun and really does go by reallllly quickly. I have friends who only do that as an an exercise and are extremely fit.

Bring a towel and lots of water and enjoy!
