I just finished my last 125 swings! Can't believe I did it with a few days to spare.

I think I'm going to try to do 100-200 a day as part of my daily routine from now on.

Hello ladies. I was wondering if you could help me out. I've been reading this thread from the start and I'd very much love to start doing kettlebell swings. But before I go and buy one (or order from Amazon as I've been contemplating), can you tell me what weight i should start at? My fitness level is pretty much zilch. I'm the type to get winded while climbing a single flight of stairs. I don't want to start too heavy and get discouraged but I don't want to start at something too light like 5 lbs if I'm going to get used to it in a few weeks (unless you think I should).

Also, has the kettlebell made a difference in how you feel? Is it really as intense as everyone says it is?

Well, I was too excited and impatient so I ordered a 10lb kettlebell from Amazon. I hope you guys continue this every month, I'd love to join in.

Hi Rainy Day,

I started with a 15# and while it was a struggle for some of the moves, it was just right for many of them. Now, depending on what move I'm doing I range from the 15# - 35#.

It is an intense workout because it's not just working the muscles, but also a cardio workout. I've noticed not only am I stronger, but my endurance during other cardio (eliptical, treadmill, etc.) had increased.

I'm walking a 1/2 marathon on Sunday, so I've eased up from KB use since I finished with my swings, but I plan on starting back up by the middle of next week.

I took a class from this kb trainer & got his e-mail update. Here's a link to an article he wrote that I found interesting. I'm going to have to try this!

Hi everyone!
Is there a monthly challenge for February or is it ongoing for those who started in Jan?

Thank you for the info, jenjen!

melly, I think it might be a monthly thing. I've seen two monthly threads so far.

I would be interested in Joining the challenge if there is one in Feb. If not, let's just swing away anyway
Just got my first kettlebell yesterday - not new to lifting, but new to kettle bells.

There isn't a specific kettlebell challenge for Feb, or none that I have seen. The 10,000 swing was for January. I know I won't be able to do that many swings in Feb.

I think we can keep posting here or I (or someone else) could start a Feb kettlebell thread.

I worked out with the trainer this morning with lots of kb action. I did 75 swings with the 25#. I'm going to try to continue to do swings on a daily basis--hopefully around 100 a day.

Sounds like fun... I'll keep an eye out for a thread as I'm up for the challenge.

Hi guys, i figured since we had a dec challenge and a jan challenge it was time for a break from the KB challenge, but in march there will defiantly be another challenge.
Feb is a bad month for me since recently there was a death in the family an i have to leave the country for 2 week...
i did start a abs challenge which i will be doing even while i am out the country to keep up, so if anyone wants to join that one your welcome to it.
i will continue doing a few kb swings daily to keep up my endurance.
just from kb swinging alone i am able to run on the threadmill now which i wasnt able to in december, i havnt used the treadmill in alomost a mnth an i ran for 10mins on it :-)

good luck guys

MARCH IS ANOTHER 10K CHALLENGE

Babyphat, I'm sorry to hear about the death in your family. Take care & safe travels.

I started a February kb thread. It's not a specific challenge, but individual goals. Hope to see y'all there!
