Default One Mile!!!!

Just wanted to share my small achievement this morning! I am 180 and ran a mile in 10:10 minutes. I don't think that I would of been able to do that in highschool I just wonder how fast I will do it when some more weight comes off..... anybody know fom experience? Also, is an almost ten minute mile considered good for a 30 year old? Thanks for the input!!! Shmooops

Congrats! I remember how awesome I felt when I hit the one mile mark. About how fast you will get, it's hard to say. I CAN run a 9:30 mm (age 35), but I don't focus on speed, so my miles are usually in the 10:30 range. I would say a 10:00 mm is good for anyone. It isn't going to set any records or win any races if that is what you mean, but it is a good pace.

Congrats!

I think a 10 min/mile is great. I was a runner as a kid. At my best, I could do a 5K at about a 7:20 min/mile pace. But when I wasn't pushing it, 10 min/mile is what I fell back to. It's probably what I mostly trained at.

I can't run at all now, so to me a 10 min/mile would be a dream. I'm planning on starting starting C25K when I hit 165, and I'm planning on taking twice as long to do it as recommended. Fingers crossed I'll be a runner again someday!

Wow, that's amazing! You'll definitely get faster as the weight comes off. I'm jealous b/c I started running this year and I'm 9 years older than you, lol. I run 3 miles in 26 minutes (have no idea if that's bad or good considering my age, lol). I should time myself at a mile and see where I'm at. Keep going. Great job!!

Wow - I am currently running about 11.5 minute miles and think I'm doing great, lol! So I am in awe! My goal is 10 minute miles, but since I have only been doing this running thing for only a few months, I'll work my way up to that. I think you will only get faster!

Great job! The first mile is always the hardest. Your pace is also great.I don't focus on pace, and I am also really slow at about 12 mins per mile-but I can run seven miles. After this, things will be a bit easier for you-not in intensity, but knowing that you CAN do this!

A 10:10 minute mile is a great time. Every individual has different times depending on fitness. Take your time to avoid injury and add distance and speed and you will excel to your own personal best. Run on....!
