Default Injured knee

What kind of exercises should I do with an injured knee? My doctor said not to do any high impact exercise for the next 4 weeks. I'm all about calorie burning rather than toning (I'm one of those naturally muscular people), so what's the next best thing to running?

THANK YOU!

Hey! I'm in NO ways an expert. I have had knee problems my whole life and so have to be careful with running. When I'm going through a rough patch with my knees, I generally avoid running type stuff, if your have a gym membership have you tried the bike or elliptical? The other thing that my physio seems to reccomend to everyone is swimming. Hope that helps!
