I bought a bike today

I paid $10 for it at a garage sale, all it needs is a bath, some air in the tires and a few squirts of WD-40. Apparently, it's been hardly used the guy said he bought it for his daughter the birthday before she left for college, said she rode it for 2 months.
I've been wanting one for a while but I didn't want to invest money in something that I might not use. I haven't ridden in a while but the last time I did I remember having a lot of butt pain from it, I think because I have a big rear end.. :( But this one has a bigger seat on it, so maybe it will help.

Wish me luck. :p

Have fun! My beau and I bought bikes this spring. I hadn't ridden in at least 10 years and I feel about 8 years old when I get on it.

I haven't been able to ride yet because it's been raining. :(

AND it's cold! I don't generally have to whine about spring in NC, but this weekend was not my idea of fun.

I know! Just when I was falling in love with springtime, it turned cold again!!

I feel as if I've been drained with this weather we're having, I've been so tired. But tomorrow is supposed to be sun shiny so I'll try to get out there then.

Where in NC are you?

Holy Cow! I just rode about 2 tenths of a mile and it was a huge workout. I'd didn't ride long, I was trying it out & needed to come back & make some adjustments. But wow, just wow!

Just wanted to say congrats! I love biking as a means of transportation (though I'm not one of those crazy reckless urban cyclists.)

I can't wait to hit a few local markets :) Do you plan on doing any exploring?

As another newbie to biking, I will share something I learned today... Since you mentioned giving it a few squirts with WD-40, I was just wondering what parts you are applying it to? My chain was getting a little squeaky so I was looking for some lube for it. According to the internet, WD-40 is supposed to not be viscous enough, so it actually works more to dissolve and remove any remaining lubricant on the chain / gears instead of actually helping to lubricate that system. But the same source said it is okay to use on other parts of the bike.

I'm still looking for decent bike oil for my chain myself, but I also have to take my bike back to the shop I bought it from tomorrow anyway for a tune-up so I'll probably just ask them for advice. :)

Yeah, I suggest you ask them because I have no idea. lol I just squirted all the movable parts.

I have enjoyed it so far. :)

Maybe you can get one of those bike pulleys like you see in people's garages and hang it from your ceiling. :D

That's what I am going to buy myself first chance I have! I 've already been looking at what I want
