I read in my mom's fitness magazine that sprinting is actually a better exercise than running, and that 5-6 sprints 3 times a week equals a 40-60 minute run every day. Also, that it makes your metabolism fast for days afterward. Does anyone know how true this is? I'm thinking of actually incorporating this into my workouts.
i've heard similar claims about plyo(jump training) and HiiT that they increase your metabolism much more than reg. cardio for long periods after. this is only if it's extremely intense, and done for a certain period of time with very little rest periods.
not sure how true it is. sure gets the heart pumping, and it's a super short workout.
Yeah, I tried doing 4 short intervals of sprinting on my way home today, and was breathing really hard when I got inside. I don't know what my husband thought, but he's all like "Are you okay?" hehe
